We planned a blood donation, YOU decided to paint the town red.

On Wed the 17th of Dec, University of Bamenda Medical Students' Association UBaMSA organized a blood donation campaign at the University of Bamenda Health Center

This campaign was meant to improve blood availability at the Regional Hospital Bamenda and consequently reduce mortality due to blood shortage. A goal that we have been dedicated to achieving yearly.

Alongside the blood donation this year, the campaign featured Hep B vaccination at the subsidized price of 2000frs.

As an outcome, we recieved over 150 pints of blood and vaccinated over 30 individuals for Hep B. This results reflect our commitment to promoting healthier communities.

We wish to heavily applaud our partners:

The Regional Hospital of Bamenda and their entire team for their unwavering annual support during this activity.

We extend our gratitude to Home Clinics for providing the vaccine to the community at a subsidized price. This goes a long way to demonstrate their commitment to reducing the prevalence of Hep B.

We equally are grateful to the Director and the team at the UBa Health Center for granting us access to use the Center as our venue.

Out deepest gratitude goes to every single person who donated blood to save a life.
You're truly a Hero.

Saving a life doesn’t always require a hospital or a uniform— sometimes it only requires a heart willing to give❤️🩸

Blood cannot be manufactured, yet it is needed every day to save mothers, children, and accident victims. If you’re healthy, be someone’s hope.

Donate blood. Save a life.

Affordable Healthcare is no longer a privilege.

On Friday the 12th of Dec, UBaMSA was highly represented at the commemoration of the the Universal Health Coverage(UHC) organized by the the Northwest Regional delegation of public health on the theme: Unaffordable Healthcare: We're sick of it!

The program had as presenters the Delegate, The Administrator of the Northwest Regional Fund for Helath Promotion(NWRFHP), the Director of the Director of the Regional Hospital.

During the delegate's presentation, he mentioned the diverse packages that UHC offers. They included;

1. Preventive and promotional services for issues like vaccination, neglected Tropical Diseases, etc...

2. Free consultation for children 0-5years old and free treatment for diagnosed cases of uncomplicated or severe malaria

3. Health voucher for pregnant women at the cost of 6000frs which will grant the access to all antenatal services, delivery & Ceasarian section(CS) inclusive, post antenatal care for mother and child for 42 days after delivery

4. Free treatments for people living with HIV or Tuberculosis

5. An annual dialysis payment of 15,000frs instead of 520,000frs.

To benefit from all these services, eligible beneficiaries simply have to register either through the CamerHealth App or go to csu.minsante.cm website.

As mentioned by the Administrator of the NWRFHP, the greatest obstacles experienced in the implementation of UHC is the population.

In his exact words "People have difficulties believing in good things"

Let us unite our voices and raise public awareness about UHC.

Let's make sure UHC is accessed by all and everywhere.

Once again, the tradition was respected 🎉🎊🔥

Last Saturday, the 29th of November marked the celebration of the Mentor_Mentee parrainage, a tradition that has stood for years.

The party took place at the Main FHS block under the theme:*Mentorship: Mutual Exchange*🤝

This party involved the pairing of Level 2s with level 1s as mentors and mentees, respectively.

In addition to the medical students, the pairing involved pharmacy students and Biomedical Science Students, hosting a population of over 200 students 👌

As guest speakers, we welcomed Miss Mawoh Marie - Noel, the president of University of Bamenda Medical Students' Association UBaMSA, Mr Chafor Ramson Njoyue, the current SG, and Mr Taton Jervis.🔥

The atmosphere was filled with fun, laughter, and unity as we rounded up with heavy refreshments.

A friendly female handball match between levels 1 and 2 marked the end of the event and the beginning of a very long journey.....💃

Last Saturday, the 15th of Nov, UBaMSA hosted her annual twin event. The general assembly and student bureau elections.

The event took place at the Multipurpose Hall of RHB and was marked by the presence of great alumni like Dr. Harold and Dr. Hillaire.

Unique to this edition was the amendment of the constitution by the entire audience in attendance

As we loudly applauded the outgoing bureau for a powerful mandate and a job welldone, we welcomed the incoming and promising new bureau while looking forward to another successful and accomplishing mandate at UBaMSA

During the Plenary Sessions of the CAMSA 5th General Assembly in Dschang, important decisions were made for the future of the association. New laws were voted, some existing ones were amended, and others were presented for discussion.

UBaMSA was proudly represented by its president, who took part in the voting process alongside other medical schools. These decisions will guide how CAMSA functions in the coming years and open doors for more UBaMSA members to be actively involved.

It was a historic moment of participation, showing the strength of student voices in building a stronger medical student community.
