Being a business owner is not all sunshine and roses. Especially when something goes sideways.
There’s no one to blame.
Nowhere to hide.
It’s really easy to spiral, get stuck in your head and play some negative thought loops on repeat.
But I think we all recognise that’s not helpful. Business owners (especially as women), we need to have the skills to move through these hiccups that will inevitably pop up when running your business (because ).
Here’s what I did to move through this:
- Triaged the problem straight away so I knew what I was working with.
- Created distance for a moment (I hung the washing!).
- Jumped on Slack to get a perspective shift and coaching from my incredible business coach.
- Chose the story and looked for the lesson/learning (hot tip, there’s ALWAYS a message).
- Moved fast and took action to rectify the problem.
- Got moving to clear my head and shift my energy. Full disclosure, it took me 10km to do this!
- Closed the loop. It’s all fixed now, and there are no open circuits messing with my brain.
This is more of the personal side to being a female business owner/mum/wife/all-the-things, in her 40s. If you’d like more content around my businesses, New Page Marketing, head over to LinkedIn and follow me there - just search Taryn Thomas and connect.
