How to prepare classic Peppered Snails
Servings: 4 people
Cooking Time: 35 to 40 minutes
Level: Easy
🐌 Ingredients:
1 kg fresh snails (cleaned and de-slimed)
(You can get this from us)
3 large tomatoes (blended)
2 red bell peppers (blended)
2 Scotch bonnet peppers (blended, adjust for spice)
1 medium onion (chopped)
3 tbsp vegetable oil (or palm oil)
1 tsp ground crayfish (optional)
1 seasoning cube (Maggi)
1 tsp thyme
1 sachet
Salt to taste
Fresh parsley or scent leaves (for garnish)
🥘 Preparation Steps:
Clean the Snails: Wash thoroughly with lime, lemon, or alum until slime is gone. Rinse in clean water.

Boil the Snails: In a pot, add snails, salt, half the onion, thyme, and curry powder. Cook for 15–20 minutes until tender.

Prepare the Sauce: Heat oil in a pan, sauté onions until golden, add blended tomatoes, bell peppers, and scotch bonnets. Stir and cook until water reduces.
Season the Sauce: Add crayfish (optional), seasoning cube, and salt. Stir well.
Combine & Pepper: Add boiled snails into the sauce. Stir and fry on medium heat for 8–10 minutes until snails are fully coated.
Serve Hot: Garnish with fresh scent leaves or parsley.
