District Hospital of Cité des Palmiers: Holding of the First Management Committee Session for 2026
The first session of the Management Committee (COGEH) of the Cité des Palmiers District Hospital for the year 2026 was held on January 13, 2026, in the hospital’s conference room.
The proceedings were opened by His Majesty Gaston Mbody EPEE, President of the COGEH, recently elected Vice-President of the Littoral Regional Council and President-in-office of the Ngondo. He extended New Year’s greetings to the members of the Committee as well as to all hospital staff, commending their commitment to serving the health needs of the population.
The Hospital Director also conveyed his best wishes and reaffirmed his determination to continue working closely with the Management Committee towards the continuous improvement of services for the benefit of the population.
The session was attended by several institutional stakeholders, including the Douala 5th District Tax Collector, the Head of the Cité des Palmiers Health District Service, the Revenue Collector, the President of the Health Area Management Committee, the Hospital Steward, the Staff Representative, the Assets Accountant, the Data Manager, and the Chief Nursing Supervisor of the hospital.
Regarding the follow-up of previous recommendations, members noted an overall satisfactory level of implementation. However, areas for improvement were identified, particularly the need for clear and visible display of visiting hours outside the hospital, in order to better inform users.
The Director presented the financial situation for the year 2025 as well as the outlook for 2026, focusing on service improvement, equipment management, and increased patient attendance. The staffing situation was also addressed, with no recruitment planned for the current year.
At the close of the session, the Management Committee reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining a collective and participatory dynamic, aimed at improving patient care and ensuring the optimal functioning of the Cité des Palmiers District Hospital, with the ambition of making it a reference health facility within the health district.

Hôpital de District de la Cité des Palmiers : tenue de la première session 2026 du Comité de Gestion
La première session du Comité de Gestion (COGEH) de l'HD Cité des Palmiers au titre de l’année 2026 s’est tenue ce 13 janvier 2026 dans la salle de conférence de l'hôpital.
Les travaux ont été ouverts par Sa Majesté Gaston Mbody EPEE, Président du COGEH , récemment élu Vice-Président du Conseil Régional du Littoral et Président en exercice du Ngondo. Il a adressé ses vœux de nouvel an aux membres du Comité ainsi qu’à l’ensemble du personnel, saluant leur engagement au service de la santé des populations.
Le Directeur de l’Hôpital a également présenté ses vœux et réaffirmé sa volonté de poursuivre la collaboration avec le Comité de Gestion en vue de l’amélioration continue des services pour le bien des populations.
La session a connu la participation de plusieurs responsables institutionnels, notamment le Percepteur de Douala 5ᵉ, le Chef du Service de District de la Cité des Palmiers, le Régisseur de Recettes, la Présidente du Comité de Gestion de l’Aire de Santé, l’Économe, le Représentant du personnel, le Comptable Matières et le Gestionnaire des données et la Surveillante Générale de l'hôpital.
Concernant le suivi des recommandations antérieures, les membres ont constaté une mise en œuvre globalement satisfaisante, toutefois, des axes d’amélioration ont été relevés, notamment en ce qui concerne l’affichage clair et visible des heures de visite à l’extérieur de l’hôpital, afin de mieux informer les usagers.
Le Directeur a présenté la situation financière de l’année 2025 ainsi que les perspectives 2026, axées sur l’amélioration des services, la gestion du matériel et l’augmentation de la fréquentation. La situation du personnel a également été évoquée, sans prévision de recrutement pour l’année en cours.
Au terme des travaux, le Comité de Gestion a réaffirmé sa volonté de maintenir une dynamique collective et participative, gage d’une meilleure prise en charge des patients et d’un fonctionnement optimal de l’Hôpital de District de la Cité des Palmiers, avec l’ambition d’en faire une structure de référence dans le district de santé.
