Meet the 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐡-𝐥𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐞𝐚𝐦 𝐢𝐧 𝐂𝐚𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐨𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐩𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐫𝐲 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐨 𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐜 𝐨𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲! When The KAWAIMA Cooperative was launched in 2021, limited funding held back their vision to grow the broiler chicken value chain — from production to distribution. That changed in 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓, thanks to a 𝟐,𝟎𝟎𝟎,𝟎𝟎𝟎 𝐗𝐀𝐅 𝐢𝐧𝐯𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡 𝐆𝐇𝐒𝐒’𝐬 𝐄𝐄𝐄-𝐏 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦.

With that support, they:
✨ Upgraded facilities and expanded capacity
✨ Now produce 𝟕𝟎𝟎–𝟏,𝟎𝟎𝟎 𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐜𝐤𝐞𝐧𝐬 𝐩𝐞𝐫 𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐡
✨ Supply households and local restaurants in 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐚 𝐈, 𝐈𝐈 & 𝐈𝐈𝐈
✨ Employ 𝟗 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐠 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐟𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐬 plus an intern

Beyond celebrating youth innovation, the Bamenda edition also underscored 𝐆𝐇𝐒𝐒’𝐬 𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐰𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐭 𝐢𝐧 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐞𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭. To date, 𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝟏,𝟒𝟎𝟎 𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐝𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐁𝐚𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐚 have directly benefited from GHSS initiatives—reflecting the organisation’s deep and lasting footprint in the region.

𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐡 𝐈𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐞 𝐓𝐡𝐫𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐬 𝐁𝐚𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐚

From 𝐉𝐚𝐧𝐮𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝟕–𝟗, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔, Bamenda became a hub of creativity and entrepreneurship as young innovators gathered for the 𝐑𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐡 𝐈𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐞, organized by Global Health Systems Solutions (GHSS) under the Education and Economic Empowerment Project (EEE-P) with support from the Mastercard Foundation.

Over three days, participants showcased bold, community-driven solutions across 𝐀𝐠𝐫𝐢-𝐁𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 & 𝐀𝐠𝐫𝐢-𝐓𝐞𝐜𝐡, 𝐃𝐢𝐠𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐥 & 𝐒𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝐓𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐧𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐢𝐞𝐬, 𝐆𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐄𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐨𝐦𝐲, 𝐂𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐄𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐨𝐦𝐲, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡 & 𝐖𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐛𝐞𝐢𝐧𝐠. Innovators exhibited their ideas, pitched before a jury, and engaged with business experts, mentors, and financial specialists.

Winning projects received cash prizes from 𝟓𝟎𝟎,𝟎𝟎𝟎 𝐅𝐂𝐅𝐀 𝐭𝐨 𝟓,𝟎𝟎𝟎,𝟎𝟎𝟎 𝐅𝐂𝐅𝐀 to help scale their ventures, while several promising participants were also supported with mini-grants.

Beyond the competition, the challenge equipped youth with practical skills in pitching, resilience, business growth, and financial management, reinforcing that true innovation must solve real community challenges.

The Bamenda challenge showcased the power, talent, and determination of young people driving change in the North West Region.

On 19 December 2025, GHSS proudly hosted the Bafoussam Youth Innovation Challenge Award Ceremony, celebrating the creativity and impact of Cameroon’s young innovators!

From over 100 project submissions, ten exceptional youth-led initiatives emerged after a rigorous selection process. Each finalist received 1,000,000–3,500,000 FCFA in financial support to scale their solutions and deepen community impact.

Organized by GHSS with support from the Mastercard Foundation, the Challenge provided a vibrant platform for innovation in:
🌿 Agri-Tech | 💻 Digital Transformation | 💚 Health & Wellbeing | 🌍 The Green Economy

This event underscored GHSS’s commitment to youth empowerment and entrepreneurship, building on successful editions in Buea and Douala to strengthen a national ecosystem for innovation and sustainable development.

🎙️ The Regional Delegate for Women’s Empowerment and the Family in West Cameroon, Mzuafo Jean Claude, applauded GHSS’s leadership and encouraged continued investment in youth-led initiatives. Chairing the event, Dr. Elvis Amin, Coordinator of the Education and Economic Empowerment Project (EEE-P), congratulated the laureates and reaffirmed GHSS’s mentorship commitment to help young entrepreneurs grow.

This celebration in Bafoussam is more than an award—it’s a powerful reminder that Cameroon’s youth are already shaping a brighter, more sustainable future.

🇨🇲 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐇𝐈𝐕 𝐓𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐐𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐢𝐧 𝐂𝐚𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐨𝐨𝐧

From 1–12 December 2025, Global Health Systems Solutions (GHSS), in collaboration with the National Public Health Laboratory (NPHL) and with support from the U.S. CDC, produced 2,000 HIV Proficiency Testing (PT) panels—a critical step toward ensuring accurate, reliable, and high-quality HIV rapid testing nationwide.

These PT panels will reach 1,571+ HIV testing sites across Cameroon, helping health workers monitor performance, reinforce best practices, and maintain confidence in HIV Rapid Diagnostic Testing as the country accelerates the rollout of the three-test algorithm.

𝐆𝐇𝐒𝐒 𝐁𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐒𝐩𝐨𝐭𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭: 𝐌𝐨𝐬𝐞𝐬’ 𝐉𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐞𝐲 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐃𝐢𝐬𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐃𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧

Meet Moses Nana Ndonga, a 25-year-old from Cameroon’s Northwest Region whose story reflects the resilience of a generation shaped by crisis. Forced to flee conflict and abandon his education, Moses found refuge in Bertoua, where he began rebuilding his life through a technician program in glasswork and aluminum.

When financial hardship forced him to pause his training, the GHSS team discovered him during a door-to-door outreach in 2025. Through the Education and Economic Empowerment Project (EEE-P)—supported by the MasterCard Foundation—Moses received funding for his training, materials, and a monthly stipend.

Today, Moses has completed his program and launched his own workshop. His dream? To train at least five youths every two years, equipping them with skills and tools to start their own businesses.

Moses’ journey shows the ripple effect of empowerment:

🎉 Cameroon's Health System Achieves a New Milestone! 🇨🇲

With GHSS support and funding from PEPFAR through the U.S. CDC, three laboratories — Maroua Regional Hospital, Ngaoundéré Regional Hospital, and CRESAR (Yaoundé) — have achieved ISO 15189:2022 accreditation under KENAS.

This brings the total to 8 GHSS-mentored accredited labs, strengthening Cameroon’s commitment to quality diagnostics and reliable health services.

🌍 GHSS Empowers Youth through the Bafoussam Youth Innovation Challenge! 🚀

GHSS continues to inspire and empower young innovators across Cameroon through the Youth Innovation Challenge — with the Bafoussam edition held from November 19–21, 2025.

This exciting event brought together passionate young minds who showcased groundbreaking solutions in Agri-Tech, Digital Transformation, Health & Wellbeing, and the Green Economy. 🌱💡

From turning mushrooms into wine and biscuits 🍄 to solar-powered school bags ☀️📚, natural fertilizers, and digital tools converting content into sign language 🤟— the creativity was limitless!

Judges and regional authorities were impressed as participants pitched their ideas, with winners taking home cash prizes ranging from 500,000 to 5,000,000 FCFA. 🏆🎉

Beyond the competition, participants gained valuable insights from business experts on:

💬 Mastering the art of pitching and leadership
