Dr Sinforian Kambou, CEPREMPIR Director was honored to represent International Society of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine (ISPRM) at the seventy-second session of the WHO Regional Committee for Africa which was held from 22 to 26 August 2022 in Togo. On behalf of ISPRM and partners, he presented a statement related to item 7 of the agenda: PEN-Plus A regional strategy for control of serious non-communicable diseases in first-level referral health facilities. The aim was to highlight the need to integrate rehabilitation while implanting the strategy in the Region to address the specific needs of patients living with NCDs.

Dr Sinforian Kambou, Directeur du CEPREMPIR, a été honoré de représenter la Société Internationale de Médecine Physique et de Réadaptation (ISPRM) à la soixante-douzième session du Comité régional de l'OMS pour l'Afrique qui s'est tenue du 22 au 26 août 2022 au Togo. Au nom de l'ISPRM et de ses partenaires, il a présenté une déclaration relative au point 7 de l'ordre du jour : PEN-Plus Une stratégie régionale de lutte contre les maladies graves non transmissibles dans les formations sanitaires de premier niveau de référence. L'objectif était de souligner la nécessité d'intégrer la réadaptation dans le processus de mise en œuvre de la stratégie dans la Région pour répondre aux besoins spécifiques des patients vivant avec des maladies chroniques non transmissibles.

Le Directeur du Centre pour la Promotion de la Réadaptation Médicale et la Recherche sur le Handicap (CEPREMDIR) Dr Sinforian KAMBOU, a pris part les 26 au 27 mai 2022 au 2ème congrès de la Société Ivoirienne de Médecine Physique et de Réadaptation (SIMER) à Yamoussoukro en Côte d'Ivoire.

En marge des travaux du congrès, il a été reçu en audience par M. Emmanuel TANNI, Conseiller Technique du Ministre de la Santé et de l'Hygiène Publique , en charge des questions de réadaptation. Au menu des échanges, il a été question de faire état du chemin parcouru pour développer la réadaptation en Côte d'Ivoire.

Par ailleurs, il a également visité quelques Services de Médecine Physique et de Réadaptation parmi lesquels: le Centre Vivre Debout situé au CHU de Yopougon.


The Director of the Center for Promotion of Medical Rehabilitation and Research on Disability (CEPREMDIR), Dr Sinforian KAMBOU, took part on May 26 to 27, 2022 in the 2nd congress of the Ivorian Society of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (SIMER) at Yamoussoukro in Ivory Coast.

On the sidelines of the work of the congress, he was received in audience by Mr. Emmanuel TANNI, Technical Advisor to the Minister of Health and Public Hygiene, in charge of rehabilitation issues. The question of reporting on the progress made to develop rehabilitation in Ivory Coast was brought up.

In addition, he also visited some Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Services, including: the Center named " Vivre Debout" located at the University Hospital of Yopougon.

From July 3 to 7, 2022, the Director of the Center for the Promotion of Medical Rehabilitation and Disability Research (CEPREMDIR), took part in the 16th Congress of the International Society of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (ISPRM) which took place is held in Lisbon, Portugal.
On this occasion, he presented a communication entitled "Cameroon's Journey to respond to Rehabilitation needs of its population".

He took advantage of his stay on Portuguese soil to visit the "Centro de Medicina de Reabilitação Alcoitão" and explore possible areas of collaboration with hospitals in Cameroon.



Du 03 au 07 juillet 2022, le Directeur du Centre pour la Promotion de la Réadaptation Médicale et de la Recherche sur le Handicap (CEPREMDIR), a pris part au 16ème Congrès de la Société Internationale de Médecine Physique et de Réadaptation (ISPRM) qui s'est tenu à Lisbonne au Portugal.
A cette occasion, il a présenté une communication intitulée "Cameroon's Journey to respond to Rehabilitation needs of its population".

Il a profité de son séjour en terre portugaise pour visiter le "Centro de Medicina de Reabilitação Alcoitão" et explorer d'éventuels axes de collaboration avec les hôpitaux au Cameroun.

Under the co-sponsorship of the Ministry of Public Health and the Ministry of Social Affairs, CEPREMDIR organized on December 09, 2021 a Conference under the theme "Rehabilitation 2030: a Call for Action, what perspectives for the public health system in Cameroon?"

This important event, which was part of a global awareness-raising initiative, aimed to:
-​ create a new dynamic around the issue of disability and rehabilitation in the public health system in Cameroon,

-​Increase the visibility of rehabilitation as a relevant health strategy for the entire population, across all stages of life and across the continuum of care.

After the welcome address of the Director of CEPREMDIR and the speeches of the representatives of the Minister of Public Health and the Minister of Social Affairs, six communications were proposed by renowned speakers:

- Dr Wouter De Groote (World Health Organization, Geneva),
- Pr Francesca Gimigliano (International Society of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Italy),
- Pr Jorge Lains (International Society of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Portugal),
- Dr Carlotte Kiekens (International Society of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Italy),
- Dr Ngo Yamben Marie-Ange (National Center for the Rehabilitation of Disabled Persons Cardinal Paul Émile LEGER)
- Mrs AGOH Glory (CBC Health Services),
- Mrs. Flore Ngassa (Association of Support for Children with Cerebral Palsy).

At the end of the conference, which was attended by around a hundred people, including staff from the Ministry of Public Health and the Ministry of Social Affairs, health professionals, educators and patient associations, a feeling of gratitude was expressed to the members of CEPREMDIR for the initiative with the hope that such an event will be repeated more frequently.

This conference marked the first major event of CEPREMDIR since its creation in 2020 and was only possible thanks to the dynamism of its members and the support of the International Society of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (ISPRM).



Sous le Coparrainage du Ministère de la Santé Publique et du Ministère des Affaires Sociales, CEPREMDIR a organisé le 09 décembre 2021 une Conférence sous le thème "Rehabilitation 2030: a Call for Action, what perspectives for the public health system in Cameroon?"

Cet important évènement qui s’inscrivait dans une démarche globale de sensibilisation visait à :
-​ créer une nouvelle dynamique autour de la problématique du handicap et de la Réadaptation dans le système de santé publique au Cameroun,

-​accroître la visibilité de la réadaptation comme stratégie de santé pertinente pour l’ensemble de la population, à travers toutes les étapes de la vie et sur tout le continuum des soins.

Après le mot de bienvenue du Directeur de CEPREMDIR et les allocutions des représentants du Ministre de la Santé publique et du Ministre des Affaires Sociales, six communications ont été proposées par des intervenants de renom :

- Dr Wouter De Groote (Organisation Mondiale de la Santé, Genève),
- Pr Francesca Gimigliano (Société Internationale de Médecine Physique et de Réadaptation, Italie),
- Pr Jorge Lains (Société Internationale de Médecine Physique et de Réadaptation, Portugal),
- Dr Carlotte Kiekens (Société Internationale de Médecine Physique et de Réadaptation, Italie),
- Dr Ngo Yamben Marie-Ange (Centre National de Réhabilitation des personnes Handicapées Cardinal Paul Émile LEGER)
- Mrs AGOH Glory (CBC Health Services),
- Mme Flore Ngassa (Association des Soutien aux Enfants Infirmes Moteurs Cérébraux).

Au terme de la conférence qui a connu la participation d’une centaine de personnes parmi lesquels des personnels du Ministère de la santé Publique et du Ministère des affaires Sociales, les professionnels de la santé, des éducateurs et des associations de patients, un sentiment de gratitude a été exprimé aux membres de CEPREMDIR pour l’initiative avec l’espoir que tel évènement sera répété plus fréquemment.

Cette conférence a marqué le premier évènement majeur de CEPREMDIR depuis sa création en 2020 et n’a été possible que par le dynamisme de ses membres et le soutien de la Société Internationale de Médecine Physique et de Réadaptation (ISPRM).
