Period Stigma and Shame can impact women's physical and mental health, as well as stop young girls and women from talking about it openly even when they are facing challenges.

UNICEF believes in ending period stigma through changing social norms and behaviours and by ensuring every child's access to knowledge and information.

MENSTRUAL HYGIENE MANAGEMENT

Menstrual Hygiene Management (MHM) can be defined as women and girls being able to use clean menstrual management materials to absorb or collect menstrual blood. Men and boys have equal stakes in menstrual hygeine management and could support in the following ways;
--- Become ambassadors or change makers who challenge the status quo of myths, misconceptions and practices that allow fear, shame and discomfort during menstruation.

-- Provide psychosocial support, mostly by understanding as appreciating gender biased vulnerabilities brought by hormones during menstruation.

-- Providing infrastructural support on Menstrual Hygeine Management; access to safe spaces (toilets) that provide privacy and security while ensuring adequate provision of water and soap as well as purchasing power of menstrual products.

OVARIAN CYSTS

The ovaries are part of the female reproductive system. They produce a woman's eggs and make female hormones. Ovarian cysts are fluid-filled sacs in or on an o***y. They usually form during ovulation, when the o***y releases an egg. They are usually harmless and go away by themselves. Most women have them sometime during their lives.

Most ovarian cysts are small and don't cause symptoms. Women may not find out that they have them until they have a pelvic exam. If there are symptoms, they may include:

Pressure

Bloating

Swelling

Pain in the lower abdomen, on the side where the cyst is

If your health care provider finds a cyst, you may be able to wait to see if it gets bigger. You may need surgery if you have pain, are past menopause, or if the cyst does not go away. If a cyst bursts or causes bleeding, you should get medical help right away.

Rarely, ovarian cysts can become cancerous. This risk increases as you get older.

A health problem that involves ovarian cysts is polycystic o***y syndrome (PCOS). Women with PCOS can have high levels of male hormones, irregular or no periods, and small ovarian cysts.
