Visite du chantier du Centre Régional de Transfusion Sanguine du Nord- Garoua.

En mission dans la ville de Garoua, Madame le Directeur Général du Centre National de Transfusion Sanguine (C**S), Pr Dora Mbanya, accompagnée de son Adjoint, M. Emmanuel Maïna Djouldé, du Directeur Médico-Technique, Pr Claude Tayou, et du Directeur des Ressources Humaines, Financières et du Patrimoine du C**S, M. Mboulata, du Représentant du C**S Nord, Dr Sadou Waldorf ainsi que du Délégué Régional de la Santé Publique du Nord, a effectué une visite du chantier devant abriter le Centre Régional de Transfusion Sanguine du Nord.

Cette descente sur le terrain avait pour objectif d’évaluer l’état d’avancement des travaux, d’examiner certains aspects techniques du chantier et d’échanger avec les ingénieurs sur les aménagements en cours, ainsi que sur les anticipations liées à la poursuite des travaux.

À l’issue de cette visite, des échanges techniques ont été tenus avec l’équipe en charge des travaux afin d’aborder plusieurs préoccupations, notamment celles relatives à l’organisation des espaces, à l’alimentation en eau du site et à la possibilité d’intégrer des solutions énergétiques alternatives.

Au terme de ces échanges, il a été recommandé aux techniciens en charge du chantier de transmettre une proposition technique détaillée, accompagnée d’une estimation financière, afin de permettre une meilleure appréciation du projet et d’envisager les prochaines étapes de sa mise en œuvre.

Lancement Officiel de la phase pratique de la formation en Transfusion Sanguine du projet PADOC.

Du 9 au 20 mars 2026, se tient à l’Hôpital Général de Garoua la phase pratique de la formation des acteurs de la chaîne transfusionnelle, dans le cadre de la mise en œuvre du Projet d’Appui au Déploiement Opérationnel du Centre National de Transfusion Sanguine (PADOC) sous financement Expertise France.

Cette session qui regroupe 25 personnels du C**S et des Banques de Sang Hospitalières issus des quatre régions septentrionales du pays, fait suite à la phase théorique de la formation, qui s’est achevée en février dernier. Durant cette première étape, les apprenants ont passé 70 jours sur la plateforme e-learning du projet, à travers 9 modules de formation, leur permettant d’acquérir les connaissances théoriques essentielles en transfusion sanguine.
La phase pratique lancée par le Directeur Général du C**S et piloter par l’un de ses partenaires, dans la mise en oeuvre de ce projet, Safe Blood For Africa, vise à mettre en application les connaissances acquises et les adapter aux réalités du terrain, dans un environnement opérationnel respectant les exigences de qualité et de sécurité transfusionnelle.

Les participants sont encadrés par deux consultants : un consultant international, le Pr Salam Sawadogo du Burkina Faso, et un consultant national, M. Kauongni Yves Nacel.

Il est à noter que cette cérémonie de lancement a connu un moment symbolique, marquée par la remise des réactifs, intrants et consommables par le C**S à la structure hôte, destinés à cette formation.

Strengthening Collaboration for Voluntary Blood Donation

The Minister of Youth Empowerment and Civic Education, Mounouna Foutsou, has called for a more structured collaboration with the National Blood Transfusion Service (NBTS) to foster voluntary blood donation through a positive change in mindsets.
He made this statement during the weekly flag-raising ceremony at the Ministry in Yaoundé on Monday, March 9, 2026. The ceremony was followed by an awareness session led by a delegation from the NBTS.
The Minister noted that the NBTS has already been given opportunities during youth empowerment programmes organized by the Ministry to raise awareness about blood donation. He nonetheless encouraged his collaborators to work more closely with the NBTS to develop innovative ways of engaging young people and the wider population on the importance of voluntary blood donation.

41st International Women's Day

The women of the National Blood Transfusion Service took part in the vibrant parade marking the celebration of International Women's Day on 8 March 2026.
The General Manager Prof. Dora Mbanya with her usual joyful and demure countenance joined her "amazons" in the parade, with their banner bearing a compelling message: equal access to safe blood for women and girls.
Festivities later continued at the NBTS headquarters. The colourful ceremony featured the Coordinator of Women’s Day activities, Mrs. Moune Clémentine, who outlined the various activities carried out by the women, all aimed at raising awareness. The General Manager encouraged the women to continue serving as ambassadors of voluntary blood donation.
Also present was the Deputy General Manager, Mr. Emmanuel Maina Djoulde, who, alongside other male staff members, added splendour to the celebration. A dance competition, a fashion parade, and comedy sketches, among other activities, added excitement to the evening.
To crown it all, renowned musician Lucky +2 thrilled the audience with his hit song “Donne ma part.”

Youth at the Service of Humanity

The National Museum was a beacon of hope as young people answered the call to donate blood during the drive organised by the National Blood Transfusion Service (NBTS).
Throughout the weeklong activities, waves of energetic, compassionate and committed youths walked in, first-time donors and repeat heroes who came to learn and ended up giving the gift of life.
The future is not only in the hands of the youth, it flows through their veins.
To every young donor: you are proof that solidarity is alive and that youth remains a powerful force for good. 💪🏾❤️

The Secretary General of Orange Foundation, Mrs. Elizabeth Mabom, accompanied by her team, held a working session with the General Manager of the NBTS, Prof. Dora Mbanya. The meeting focused on identifying priority areas for digital support.
This prospective collaboration with Orange Foundation underscores the NBTS’s commitment to innovation, technology-driven healthcare solutions.

The National Blood Transfusion Service (NBTS) has kicked off preparations for the 2026 World Blood Donor Day, marked every June 14. The first preparatory meeting brought together key blood donation advocates including Blood Track, Lifeline Africa, NOLFOWOP, Humanitaire Possible Cameroun, FECADOBES, Demain le Cameroun, Mothers Heart, and SOS Don de Sang - working together to make the 2026 celebration truly memorable.
