Constant Support to SMEs and VSEs
The Ministry of Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises, Social Economy, and Crafts (MINPMEESA) and the LANACOME have partnered to support small businesses and artisans. On August 8, 2025, LANACOME handed over analysis results to small businesses, organizations, and artisans recommended by MINPMEESA. The laboratory analysis revealed several issues, including inadequate storage and labeling of products. Recommendations were made to stakeholders, including business owners and the government, to improve quality control and certification processes.
adapted standards for local production
This activity is part of the implementation of the partnership agreement signed between the two state structures. The ceremony was presided over by the Minister of Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises in person and was attended by the Director General of LANACOME, represented by the Administrative Director of Human Resources and Finance, Mr. KETCHA NGOUE Christian Brice. On this occasion, LANACOME proceeded to the formal handover of analysis results to Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (SMEs), and artisans. The data collection, carried out across five regions, included interviews based on the 5M tool (Manpower, Environment, Method, Material, and Machinery), sample collection, and laboratory testing. The laboratory findings revealed the following issues: raw materials and finished products are not stored in monitored areas, insufficient mandatory information on labels, including: absence of expiration dates, absence of manufacturing date, absence of batch numbers, absence of production site location, unjustified therapeutic claims, unjustified nutritional claims, absence of control samples, unlabeled inputs and lack of control over expiration date determination. Based on these findings, LANACOME has formulated recommendations for stakeholders, including promoters of Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (SMEs) and artisans. These recommendations include: SMEs and artisans should group together by sector to share certification costs, integrate quality into their entrepreneurial strategy, actively participate in training, workshops, and awareness campaigns and innovate in labeling, packaging, and product presentation.
To the government, LANACOME recommends : strengthening support mechanisms to enhance support for accessibility of standards and certifications, facilitate the creation of accredited regional analysis laboratories, promote standards adapted to local production realities, integrate Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (SMEs) and professional organizations into public quality policies and support the acquisition of modern equipment for artisanal processing. This initiative confirms LANACOME's leadership in quality control in Cameroon and Central Africa, as well as its commitment to supporting businesses in preserving public health.By implementing these recommendations, the government can create a more supportive environment for SMEs and artisans, ultimately contributing to the growth and development of the economy.
