The first batch of rare-disease drugs cleared customs at the comprehensive bonded zone of Beijing Daxing International Airport ( ) on Dec. 22, marking a new milestone in the zone's drive to build an international and gateway.
The imported drugs are used to treat cholestatic pruritus in patients aged three months and older with Alagille syndrome. Thanks to the bonded zone's smart checkpoint system, pharmaceutical companies can now complete customs clearance in a matter of seconds.
Since August, a fast-track mechanism has streamlined the entire import process, from filing and sampling to customs clearance, allowing it to be completed within 24 hours.
Local authorities said the zone will continue to improve customs services and facilitation for pharmaceuticals and medical devices, supporting the growth of the life sciences and health care industry.
