It is recommended that prescribed pregabalin use is not stopped abruptly as it may cause anxiety, insomnia, nausea, pain and sweating.
Substantial misuse of pregabalin has been reported. In view of this, and in view of pregabalin's known effects, it seems possible that dependence may develop in some regular users.

Since being introduced in the US and UK in 1993, pregabalin has spread across the world.

A study published by the medical journal Nature Communications estimates that the number of doses of pregabalin and gabapentin taken daily around the world rose more than fourfold between 2008 and 2018.

Official reports suggest pregabalin is also being increasingly abused in Saudi Arabia and Jordan.

In 2017, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) National Rehabilitation Centre said pregabalin and gabapentin were the most commonly abused drugs by under-30s.

Large quantities of illegally-traded pregabalin have been captured in the UAE and Kuwait.

Kratom is a tropical tree native to Southeast Asia.It has a long history of use in Southeast Asia, where it is commonly known as thang, kakuam, thom, ketum, and biak.

𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐢𝐬 𝐢𝐭 𝐚𝐛𝐮𝐬𝐞𝐝?
Kratom is almost always taken orally.
In Southeast Asia, typical formulations include raw or powdered leaves or liquid leaf-extracts (tea or decoction). Kratom decoction is often mixed with another beverage to create a kratom “cocktail.”
In the United States and Western Europe, common formulations include leaf powders taken as a tablet or capsule or dissolved in a beverage. Mitragynine and 7-hydroxymitragynine have been found in resins and liquids sold online for use in electronic drug delivery devices (so-called “e-cigarettes”).

At low doses, Kratom produces stimulant effects with users reporting increased alertness, physical energy, and talkativeness. At high doses, users experience sedative effects. Kratom consumption can lead to addiction. and can lead to psychotic symptoms, and psychological and physiological dependence. Due to its addiction, its abuse became recognized.

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐡𝐚𝐳𝐚𝐫𝐝 𝐨𝐟 𝐊𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐦 𝐚𝐛𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠
Kratom have been used increasingly among drug abusers with significant adverse effects. Deaths have been reported in United States, and mitragynines have been detected in post-mortem blood samples.

In recent years, Kratom is available online which aided its spread to United states, Europe, Japan. Kratom purchased online is more effective than the natural plant as it contains higher concentrations of its psychoactive alkaloids.

Long-term use of kratom may produce physical and psychological effects that are very similar to its withdrawal syndrome, that is, anxiety, irritability, mood, eating, and sleep disorders, other than physical symptoms resembling op**te withdrawal.

For this trend, CNDH has launched the "𝐎𝐧𝐞 𝐒𝐭𝐞𝐩 𝐊𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐦 𝐔𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐭𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐤𝐢𝐭" to provide the preliminary screening of Kratom abuse.

In today’s market, new psychoactive substances (NPS) are a complex and diverse group, as most of NPS are synthetic drugs, to get stronger effect and escape legal punishment, the chemical structure of these drugs are constantly changing to create new substance, try to stay ahead of the law and make drug abusers more addictive.

According to the Guardian Australia news. In early 2024, drug testing in Canberra reveals three recreational substances not previously seen in Australia.

More than half of the drugs tested at the CanTEST fixed-site facility were not what the user was expecting, and some were drugs not previously seen in Australia.

The first one submitted by a client they thought was a derivative of the ADHD drug Ritalin, a stimulant. But it turned out to be a new variant of cathinone, or bath salts.

A second substance, which the client thought was ketamine-like, was a new type of benzylpiperazine, a euphoric drug often used as a substitute for M**A (ecstasy).

The third client thought the substance they had might be a cathinone, but the chemists found it was a new phenethylamine drug known as propylphenidine, another stimulant.

“Drug checking services are perhaps one of the most likely places where truly novel products are likely to first present. “In the same way that emerging infectious disease monitoring networks can gain valuable time in the early identification of strains of particularly virulent agents, drug checking can be the first opportunity to identify agents of potential and particular harm.”

“It turns out that drug checking services can not only change the behaviours of consumers, but when done rigorously, can also identify totally novel drugs as they emerge, and possibly even before they get a hold on local markets,” Dr David Caldicott, the CanTEST lead said. He called on other states and territories to follow Canberra’s lead and roll out drug checking services.

Recognize drug——SOMA

SOMA, a trade name for prescription drug carisoprodol, is a muscle relaxant legitimately prescribed to relieve pain from muscle injuries and spasms.
When taken in dosages exceeding those recommended by physicians, Soma causes drowsiness, giddiness, and relaxation.

SOMA is available as a 350-milligram tablet. The round, convex, white tablets are inscribed with SOMA on one side and 37 WALLACE 2001 on the other.

Increasing abuse of SOMA
According to WHO pre-review report of Carisoprodol, the number of incidents involving carisoprodol increased worldwide in recent years, from 45 incidents before March 2021 in only from three regions to 2416 between January 2022 and March 2023 in 23 countries and territories. Usually, ingestion of 1 to 3 tablets (each containing 350 mg) produces a general feeling of well-being; taking 4 to 10 tablets is associated with hypomania; and taking > 10 tablets may cause confusion, disorientation and partial amnesia.

Who abused SOMA?
Soma used in sexual assaults can be found in abundance at dance clubs and bars. Drug pushers go where the buyers are, and clubs are typically full of young people looking to take something for fun or recreation. So-called “club drugs”, like Soma, Ecstasy, Ketamine, Rohypnol and GHB, are used to enhance the atmosphere at parties and to help the user “have a good time”. Sexual predators use these drugs to facilitate assaults because large doses create blurred vision, dizziness, and loss of coordination in a victim.

An Introduction of Hair Drug Testing

Hair testing for drugs of abuse is the only drug testing method available that provides up to a 90-day drug use history. A person may need to undergo drug testing for employment, legal, or medical purposes.
Some companies require potential employees to take a drug test as part of their application process, particularly for jobs that carry a high risk of injury. Employers may also carry out random drug testing for current employees, or they may request drug tests following serious accidents or incidents. Courts may require drug testing for individuals on probation or during child custody, adoption, and domestic violence cases.

Though commonly called a “hair follicle test,” this drug test only tests clipped strands of hair, not the follicle located under the scalp. Drug and drug metabolite(s) are incorporated into the hair matrix from the bloodstream following drug use. Hair drug testing detects drugs that are embedded in the hair.

For the sample collection, a 100-milligram sample of hair (90 to 120 strands) be cut at the scalp. If the te**ee have very little or no hair on the head, the collector might use body hair for the test instead.

What is nitrous oxide?

It has several other names "laughing gas, nitro, N2O, NOS, nangs, whippet, hippy crack, buzz bomb, balloons."

It is a tasteless and odourless gas that is inhaled and is commonly used as a painkiller in medicine and dentistry. However, due to its intoxicant effect, its use soared during the pandemic, becoming one of the most-abused substances among young people.

Many recreational users bought the gas in small metal canisters, released it into a balloon and then inhaled the contents.

Inhaling laughing gas produces a rapid and short lived rush of euphoria, happiness or excitement, makes it addictive.
After repeated inhalation of this gas, the following symptoms may occur, causing irreversible damage to one's health:

A New Emerging Drug Threat

A kind of new substance raises new concerns in both US and Australia, two distant countries in the world.

This drug can be 10 times as potent as Fentanyl. It is called "Nitazenes". The Colorado State says that nitazenes has led to 13 deaths in recent years.

According to the recent media release from New South Wales Health Department, last month a cluster of around 20 overdoses was reported in Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District, where nitazenes were found in people who thought they were using he**in.

Nitazenes are a class of synthetic opioids and were first developed in the 1950s and early 1960s. They are much more stronger than "Fentanly", another prevalent synthetic opioid. It emerged as the substitute with a crackdown on fentanly.

During the first week of this month, our company supported two anti-drug actions.
