Dr. Yan Xiaobo, an orthopaedic oncology and spinal tumor specialist from was invited by the Oncology Institute to attend the X International Congress of Oncologists and Radiologists of Kazakhstan, where he delivered a keynote lecture titled “Evaluation and Minimally Invasive Treatment of Spinal Metastatic Tumor”, and did a clinical visit to guide a surgery. His tumor-margin concepts resonated strongly with international peers. During a subsequent clinical visit and on-site guidance, Dr. Yan, while conducting ward rounds at a local cancer center, promptly identified a patient with a spinal tumor who was at imminent risk of paralysis. He immediately recommended emergency decompression surgery and provided hands-on guidance throughout the entire procedure. As a result, the patient’s neurological function was successfully preserved.

successfully performed a pneumomediastinum-assisted mediastinoscopy combined with laparoscopic radical esophagectomy on a 67-year-old patient——with no incisions on the chest. Postoperatively, the patient experienced minimal chest pain, was able to ambulate on the following day, and demonstrated rapid recovery. This innovative, minimally invasive procedure is performed through small incisions in the neck and abdomen, leaving the chest completely free of any surgical incisions. It completely avoids injury to the ribs and intercostal nerves associated with conventional thoracic surgery. Moreover, as the procedure avoids entry into the thoracic cavity and eliminates the need for single-lung ventilation, it markedly reduces interference with cardiopulmonary function. This approach provides a valuable curative option for elderly patients or those with compromised .

successfully performed a radical on a septuagenarian patient. Fifty-five years earlier in 1971, this patient suffered a life-threatening explosion injury and SAHZU preserved the function of his right hand through multiple procedures over several months. Fifty-five years later, the same patient was readmitted to SAHZU with . Given his advanced age and comorbidities, including pulmonary infection, the department of organised a multidisciplinary consultation for precise preoperative assessment. During surgery, minimally invasive techniques were used to successfully perform a radical gastrectomy, with minimal intraoperative blood loss. Postoperatively, the patient was closely monitored in the comprehensive ICU and made an uneventful recovery.

The team led by Prof. Wang Jianan at successfully completed the first implantation of ™ system, an implantable device integrating both treatment and . The device was precisely implanted in a 61-year-old male patient diagnosed with chronic heart failure. By the second postoperative day, the patient had recovered well, with marked improvement in chest tightness and dyspnoea. The system’s unique advantage lies in delivering a full continuum of care—including heart failure treatment, postoperative assessment, and long-term monitoring—through a single procedure. Its low reverse shunt design ensures therapeutic efficacy while significantly enhancing safety. This technology offers a revolutionary end-to-end solution for patients with chronic heart failure worldwide.

Recently, successfully performed a personalized Percutaneous Endoscopic Cervical Discectomy on a Chinese- patient, resulting in immediate symptom relief and preserved cervical mobility. To achieve better treatment outcomes, Mr. Wang came to for care during the Chinese New Year holiday. After admission, the team quickly completed a comprehensive evaluation and confirmed a diagnosis of Brown-Séquard syndrome. Given that his bony overgrowth primarily originated from the lateral side, the team tailored a surgical plan by using the natural gap between the vertebral laminae to achieve precise decompression with minimal bone trauma. This approach not only relieved the nerve compression but also fully preserved the physiological structure and function of the patient's cervical spine.
