Team of Surgery at successfully removed a huge, potato-shaped thyroid from a patient while key structures and functions—including the recurrent laryngeal nerves—were well preserved. Ms. Lin had a 20-year history of the disease, and the mass had severely compressed her trachea, leading to deformation and critical airway narrowing. The hospital convened a multidisciplinary team (MDT) consultation and opted for a technically demanding, single-stage procedure to remove the tumors on both sides. Complete resection was achieved, with no gross residual tumor visible.
