Shenhua FC’s footballer André Luis is back on the road to recovery.

This past week, forward André Luis underwent a successful endoscopic lumbar discectomy (lower back procedure) at Jiahui International Hospital — a minimally invasive, day procedure that allowed discharge the next day.

This season, André Luis has made 22 appearances for Shanghai Shenhua, scoring 11 goals and providing 3 assists, making him a key offensive player for the team. After 6 weeks of worsening lumbar pain and failed conservative care, he’s opted for minimally invasive surgery to get back stronger. This procedure allowed the player to get out of bed the same day and kick-start his rehab the following day, accelerating a safe return to play while protecting soft tissue

The multidisciplinary team of spine surgeons, Dr. Tim Xia and Dr. Danny D**g, Shenhua’s team doctor, and sports physiotherapists crafted a targeted, phased rehab program so the athlete can regain fitness faster. Wishing André Luis a strong recovery — see you back on the pitch soon.

Ready to Respond. Ready to Save.

On September 5 we welcomed members from the Shanghai Chapter of the American Chamber of Commerce to Jiahui International Hospital for a comprehensive CPR & AED training.

Dr. John Hsiang, Chairman of Jiahui Health Executive Committee, welcomed professionals from Starbucks Briggs & Stratton Carrier Collins Aerospace Payoneer and more companies operating in Shanghai.

AHA‑certified instructors Nurse Candy Dang, Nurse Ma Jianying and Nurse Susan Hou led a focused 2‑hour hands‑on session and everyone left with a completion certificate. The course covered emergency preparedness, first‑aid basics, common injury and choking emergencies, plus adult CPR & AED. Participants found the skills very useful and worth attending.

The participants also went on a tour of the hospital, visiting three key areas: first, our Emergency Room (ER), which is designated as a CIIE green channel and equipped with resuscitation capabilities and direct access to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU); second, the hospital’s VIP Health Management Center, where private in-room health checks are available; and third, the Pediatrics Wing, which covers a wide range of specialized services.

Jiahui Health is committed to helping our community stay safer and healthier. Knowing basic CPR and first aid allows you to quickly provide life-saving interventions until the ambulance arrives, or before you can reach the hospital.

Our AHA Training Center regularly provides the Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED Course for lay responders who wish to combine first aid with CPR training to give them a broad base of lifesaving skills.

Jiahui Health's first aid support played a vital role in creating a safe and enjoyable environment for everyone at NYU Shanghai SUMMER FUN Event over the weekend! Amidst the excitement of water sports, games, entertainment, and live performances, our ER team was on-site providing care for all attendees throughout the day.

Jiahui Health welcomed a delegation from Duke University and Duke Kunshan University (DKU) for a clinical knowledge exchange at our main hospital. As a proud healthcare partner of Duke in China — including operating an on-campus clinic at Duke Kunshan University — we’re committed to advancing global medical dialogue.

Led by Dr. Stephanie Eucker, Dr. Sharla Rent, Ms. Maeve Salm, Dr. Christine Gray and supported by Dr. Claudia Nisa from Duke Kunshan University, the team is pioneering research on acupuncture’s impact on mental health outcomes. Their visit focused on learning from Jiahui’s clinical excellence and exploring collaborations with practitioners.

Highlights included:
