We had [Healthy Children, Carefree Parents]— a special event for children’s day at PXU! Dr. Sylvestre & Dr. Steven Wang introduced child sitting posture and appendicitis to our guests. Zumba dancing, face painting, and other fun family activities have brought happiness to our guests.

第一届和睦家医疗国际高级创伤峰会于2019年3月3日正式启动。此峰会由上海社会医疗机构协会急诊危重病分会、和睦家医疗以及公办医疗机构共同主办。峰会旨在更好的紧跟最前沿的创伤热点以及开启国际高级创伤支持课程（ATLS）的学术分享。
The inaugural United Family Healthcare International Trauma Summit was officially launched on March 3, 2019. The summit was organized under the guidance of the Critical Care Branch of the Shanghai Society of Social Medical Institutions and was sponsored and co-organized by United Family Healthcare alongside some public medical institutions. The summit aims to facilitate a better understanding of cutting-edge trauma hotspot treatment through academic sharing from the International Advanced Trauma Support Program (ATLS).

高级创伤支持课程（ATLS）源起于美国外科医师学会创伤委员会并于1980年首次在美国进行。ATLS课程大陆地区的首次引入，目的让参加课程授权的学员更好的处理创伤患者情况，复苏及稳定病人同时确定是否超出设施能力。
Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) was developed by the American College of Surgeons Trauma Committee and was first conducted in the United States in 1980.
This ATLS course is intended to allow enrolled participants to better handle the condition of the trauma patient, resuscitate and stabilize the patient, and then determine whether the patient’s condition exceeds the capacity of the medical facility.

Shanghai United Family Hospital presents our very first Clinicians’ Corner and it’s almost upon us!

You’re very welcome to join us next Tuesday March 12 from 6pm to 8pm.

We’ve invited our best physicians to discuss some of the big issues that we encounter during daily life with our kids.

For the first event, our Clinicians’ Corner will focus on pediatric Sports Injuries, Allergies, Hand-foot-mouth disease, and Acute appendicitis.

We are pleased to introduce our new surgery doctor: Winfred ZHANG

Dr. ZHANG received his medical degree from Shanghai School of Medicine in 1998, and was later awarded a medical Master degree in 2008 from Second Military Medical University. Dr. ZHANG completed his residency at Shanghai General Hospital in 2001. He was promoted to attending surgeon in 2003, and was promoted to associate chief surgeon in 2009.

Let‘s welcome our Psychotherapist:
Dr.Helen WESSELS

Areas of specialty treatments:

Ms WESSELS has several areas of specialty treatments including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Schema Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), mindfulness-based and relaxation techniques. She developed expertise in treating various mental conditions, including but not limited to depression, anxiety disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder, eating disorders and personality disorders.

Education:

Ms Wessels received her Master’s degree in Psychology from the University of Muenster, Germany. She completed her post-graduate education at the Cologne Institute for Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and the University Hospital of Cologne in Germany, where she performed psychological assessments and treated patients in individual and group therapy sessions. Ms Wessels is a licensed Psychological Psychotherapist according to German state examination rules. Further, she is about to accomplish her doctoral degree at the Department of Psychiatry and Psychotherapy of the University Hospital of Cologne, Germany.

Background:

Before joining United Family Healthcare Shanghai Service Area, Ms Wessels worked in a private practice in Cologne, Germany, and served as a specialist in depression, phobias, and adjustment disorders. Ms Wessels is registered as a Medical Practitioner with the Federal Association of National Health Physicians in Germany. She is a member of the German State Chamber of Psychotherapists and the German Psychotherapists’ Association. In addition to her clinical work, Ms Wessels has published in medical journals, including Early Intervention in Psychiatry and Psychiatrische Praxis.

Dr. Wang received his medical degree from Shanghai Second Medical University in 2000, and was later awarded a master’s degree in surgery from Shanghai Jiaotong University School of Medicine. Dr. Wang completed his residency in surgical medicine at Shanghai First People’s Hospital. In 2006, he was qualified as an attending surgeon. He is proficient in the diagnosis and treatment of various surgical diseases in children and adults.

Why juvenile myopia rate is high?

In recent years, the myopia rate of Chinese teenager is high, more and more children become high myopia. There are many causes of myopia, which is mainly due to prolonged short-distance use of eyes, such as reading, homework, watching TV, playing video games. In addition, lack of outdoor activities is also very important cause of myopia.

■ How parents found the child early signs of myopia?

In the early stage of myopia, children will show squinting, head tilt, move closer. Once the parents found one of the performance, they should take the child to the regular medical institutions for visual inspection.
