Many patients don’t realize how much alcohol can interfere with the healing process before and after surgery. 🧠
Ten days might seem like enough time — but alcohol can remain in your system longer than you think, altering blood flow, platelet function, and the way your body metabolizes anesthesia.

When consumed before surgery, it increases the risk of bleeding, inflammation, and poor wound healing, while also weakening the immune response that your body needs for recovery.
It can even make post-op medications less effective or more toxic to your liver.

That’s why it’s not just a recommendation — it’s a key safety measure to completely avoid alcohol at least 10–14 days before any surgical procedure.
