Coming Up Rainbows

Coming Up Rainbows We care about your body and the products you have access to. Welcome to the home of the Pit Stick. My favorite job is being a mama to two sweet boys!

I'm a natural/safe body care products maker, an aromatherapist, an herbalist, a birth doula, and a YL essential oils slinger. I like to construct with fibers. I like to take photos. I like to hang out with my chickens and grow stuff. I like to help people. I ski, I hike, I run, I play in the mountains, and always feel lucky when I spot a rainbow. This is my quest to make the most of the life I'm given and share our snips of life with you. I imagine many of you are visiting to learn a bit more about essential oils and I hope I get the privilege of being the person to teach you. I also hope you'll share your knowledge with me when you visit my page, because I love learning new things, whenever possible. Maybe you are here to check out our lunches? Maybe you have a really awesome knitting pattern to share with me, I'm stoked. Whatever the reason, I'm glad you stopped by to visit and I hope you'll come back again.

Hi! This was a really long time ago, before we had our cardboard tubes. We've slowly moved away from plastic wherever possible. This photo is still an accurate representation of Coming Up Rainbows in so many ways. I still make every Pit Stick, lip balm, & salve in my kitchen. I make every Rainbow Roller in my office/workshop.
I haven't worn this apron in a while. I have another favorite from my Grandma Stash that I find myself using more often these days. I still use weird old jars for things. I still look for pots and pans and wax warmers at yard sales. I still pour all the love into everything I make.
You might be new here, you might know me and know this is my true dorky self, and/or you might be looking for a new deodorant.

Why not try ours? Glitter or None. Baking Soda or None. You have options. xo

A standoff.
A collage.
A sprite.
A dog who hates the yurt, and chooses the porch.
Same.
Last warm rays of the day.
An obsession.
A new birdhouse.
Spring magic.
A raging creek.
A budworm casualty.
A dreamy sneak away for one night.

Warm Greetings from our Tea Nook.

It's the time of month where we share a new herbal tea recipe. This particular tea is a real mover and immune booster and anti-inflammatory powerhouse.

Ginger has long been loved for supporting digestion and circulation.
Turmeric is the golden root we all know for its anti-inflammatory properties.
And finally black pepper, the quiet helper. Just a small pinch helps the body better absorb the beneficial compounds in turmeric.
Visit our Tea Nook for the collection of recipes from 2026.

Tedious. Subpar. Complete.

I ordered the ROYGBIV Nimble Sock Mini Skein Set from in May of 2024 as a little birthday gift to myself. I had a pattern in mind.

Who knew, it would take almost 2 years to complete a project. And, the project didn't even feel that daunting. So much life knit into this ♾️ cowl.

Free Pattern on Ravelry - Free the Minis Scarf - in my stories.

I cast on all 84 stitches - felt like a thousand - in November 2024. Then I knit in stockinette for almost two years, switching my yarn color every 168 ish stitches. That's bonkers.

One afternoon I was on 'Rudy Duty' and I decided to kill some time by winding the rainbow skeins into balls by hand - old school. I set a chair up in the living room of grandma's house. She didn't have those chairs for much longer, because she would knock them over when she was feeling ragey. I put the skein around the chair and started winding, and probably took a couple of years off my life just attempting that - wasn't even knitting yet. I hope I finished at home with my cake maker, but I honestly cannot remember.

I knit in Minneapolis on a visit to my family. I tore her apart after this trip because my stitching was too bumpy. I knit by our 2024 Christmas tree. I knit on the shores of Seeley Lake at Family Camp. I knit on a lot of airplanes. I knit taking Gus to NYC for auditions and school tours. I knit on my grandma's porch while we waited for golfers to pass and she napped. I tore my work out because I learned how to hide my tails, whenever I changed yarn colors. I didn't want to tuck that s**t, and this pattern had more tails than any other pattern I've worked. I knit while we watched movies on our couch.
I knit thousands and thousands of bumpy stitches. I tucked thousands of tails. I filled with Christmas rage too many times to count. I won't ever make another free the minis scarf, but I'm glad I got this one off of her needles. I couldn't possibly tell you how many hours this project took. + Blood + Sweat + Tears.

Nobody will be offered the chance to look closely at my kitchener's stitch.

Pattern, yarn and needles links in my stories. Onward.

Our Story

I'm a natural/safe body care products maker, a birth doula, an herbalist, a YL essential oils slinger, a gardener & a backyard beekeeper. My favorite job is being a mama to two sweet boys. I like to construct with fibers. I like to take photos. I like to hang out with my chickens and grow food and herbs. I like to help people. I like to snuggle babies. This is my quest to make the most of the life I'm given and share snips of our life with you. I imagine many of you are visiting to learn a bit more about essential oils or herbs and I hope I get the privilege of being the person to teach you.
