i schedule these things weeks in advance- movement, play, surf, rest, body work, Spanish class, space. and then my clients and meetings book in around that.
i know. it sounds backwards. it felt backwards for a long time. i had to unlearn a few things. especially coming to entrepreneurial life from being an elementary school teacher. i understand not everyone has this privilege of choice and space, but if you’re reading this and you do, keep reading. even if you have a busy job/ life .. make this small. schedule 10 min a day to breathe.
here’s what i know now: a regulated nervous system is not a reward for finishing your to-do list. it’s the condition under which your to-do list actually gets done.
when you schedule these other things, treat them like it’s a meeting you can’t cancel, your body knows you’re choosing yourself. it’s such a good practice if you are in the habit of choosing yourself last 💁🏻♀️ let’s rewire that.
when the week feels safe, you show up differently. you work better. you think clearer. you have more to give without running on empty.
this isn’t a productivity hack. it’s nervous system hygiene.
try it this week. schedule one little thing for yourself.
