Israel's Remilk has announced an ambitious construction plan: The precision-fermented dairy startup will create a large-scale factory on a newly acquired 750,000-square-foot plot of land in Denmark, making it the world's largest dairy production facility. without animals largest in the world.

No construction timeline has been set, but when operational, Remilk's new facility is expected to manufacture large quantities of animal-based dairy proteins. The equivalent of 50,000 cows per year has been quoted. Projected construction costs have not been released. The completed plant will form part of the Simbiosis industrial project, a sustainable industrial development area in Kalundborg.

The Danish location was selected for the construction of Remilk's mega facility due to the surrounding project's deep sustainability commitments. As a country, Denmark is considered a leader in terms of environmental efforts. Eighty percent of the country's energy is supplied by green and renewable sources, with plans to be free of dependence on fossil fuels by 2027.

Access to a pool of potentially advantageous partners also contributed to the decision to move to Denmark, as did the government's willingness to support burgeoning food technology.
