Basecamp is part of the broader Tierramor landscape, located at the base of the mountain just below our main center. While the main site serves as the heart of gatherings, Basecamp functions as a complementary space - focused on land-based systems, experimentation, and production. Together, they form an integrated ecosystem.

Basecamp is home to a diverse and evolving agroforestry system - one that weaves together native trees, perennial crops, and seasonal harvests into a living food system. Here you’ll find nearly 40 species growing in layered relationship - from canopy trees to root crops, fruits, and annual vegetables. Designed and planted for our last Syntropic Agroforesty Course by . In the surrounding pastures, 30 chickens are raised, producing fresh eggs and supporting the soil fertility.

Beneath the shade of towering mango trees, over 165 species of native plants are cultivated in our nursery - home to more than 8,000 plants that will take root in reforestation zones and gardens.

Finally, Basecamp houses our earthen brick center - focused on experimenting with and producing earth-based building materials.

There is so much to love about this place. The wide fields lined with flowering trees, where cattle and horses roam freely. A walk through the nursery with Don Esteban and Enrique. Bird song and chickens in the morning, and the waves of Ostional in the evening. A place that invites you to listen, to learn and to tend to the land as it tends to us.

ESPAÑOL ABAJO! During his 3-month internship at Tierramor, Jesus - an Earth University student - designed and implemented a Black Soldier Fly system to close a key nutrient loop.

🌱 Organic waste from the kitchen feed the larvae. 🐔The larvae become protein-rich feed for our chickens. 🪱 Their frass returns to the soil as nutrient-rich fertilizer.

The impact: reduced purchased feed, healthier hens, nutrient-dense eggs for our community, and fertility cycling back into the land.

A thoughtfully designed extension of our maloca experience, and positioned to open toward the ocean and sky, the pool was created as a space that feels integrated, intentional, and easy to be in. Whether you’re returning from the farm, finishing a morning practice, or simply pausing in the heat of the afternoon, it is quickly becoming a natural gathering point - quiet, refreshing, and deeply grounding.
