Today we are celebrating here at . We just completed a security upgrade project that we’ve been working on for several months.

And these guys did an awesome job from start to finish, so adam made them a celebratory cake, food and beer.

Sure it’s not very Pura Vida to see 2.5 meter fence with razor wire on top and a big gate in front of our house…but it’s also not Pura Vida to sit here unresponsive and unprepared for the unfortunate reality that crime in our area has increased since the pandemic. And so we took swift action and had an incredible team of hard working helpers to get the job done.

The Marcela finca as a whole is also coming together and building a guard shack at the entrance and repairing and building new fence along the main road in order to secure our space and better monitor the flow in and out of the finca. Some owners are paying more because they’re generous and want a fast solution to the problem, and others are paying what they can in time and money. Either way, it feels good to move forward with gratitude and a neighborhood united.

What I have enjoyed seeing is the increase in communication and solution seeking among neighbors from many different cultures and languages for the first time since we moved in 2.5 years ago. The primary language is French, then Spanish and then English.

And we also love developing better relationships with our immediate neighbors. For instance one new neighbor even joined in on a private class I taught last week and she loved it.

So there’s a lot of good rising out of the fear and crime, and we’re going to keep focusing on that.

I believe together we are better and that this too shall pass, but having 2.5 meter fence with razor wire helps too 🤣🙏🏻❤️

And it’s always good to add a chocolate and vanilla sprinkle cake to every celebration ❤️🌈😊

Today is August 9th, and it’s the 2 year anniversary of our family’s first night sleeping here at the Lanktuary.

For our first night here, it was just Adam, Aurora and I, because the dogs stayed behind at our old house with our 4 Work Away volunteers who were living with us and helping with the transition from la Paz del cielos to the Lanktuary.

It blows my mind how fast time has gone by; yet sometimes it also feels so slow. 🤪

Kinda like how I blinked, and Ariel Grace no longer fits into her 3 or 6 month clothes anymore; when it seemed like last week those sizes were enormous on her.

Anyway...

So much inner and outer growth has happened in this Lanktuary space in the last 2 years; growth of people, animals, the land, and the intricate decor and details of each apartment we’ve added.

Aurora was 1.5 years old when we moved in and Ariel wasn’t on our family radar, at all. And I remember life feeling super challenging to energetically root down personally or physically anywhere; mainly because everything was so new or about to change.

Learning to navigate a new baby, buying our first piece of property in a foreign country, designing and building our house and then moving ourselves and 6 dogs into said house, was a lot for 2019. But again and again, we just kept doing our best and showing up to what showed up each day.

And behold, the Lanktuary slowly came to life in every way and got better each day. It’s so rad to reflect on that now.

With the pandemic and quarantine in 2020, we had unexpected quiet solo family time at the Lanktuary. So we spent that time feeling-out how we wanted the space to look and feel, without having to rush it; and I love how it has turned out. I shared some pics here around the outskirts.

These days we’re focusing on having friends and family, and friends of friends and family as our ideal visitors, so if that feels like you, let’s connect and discuss if a visit here would do your soul & spirit some good.

The Lanktuary is upgrading and feels wonderful here 🙏🏻❤️🌈

And this is a more personal share, as the is also our home, so here’s a glimpse into some recent life here.

We’re still in the aftermath of the new moon’s vibes, so I took that opportunity to reconvene and connect with our Heart & Flow class crystals, which have been quietly resting and waiting for their next assignment, which was to help us both accept & integrate all that’s happened the last 2 months AND help us relax into what’s ahead for our family & the Lanktuary.

It’s been about 2 months since I last cleaned and cleared these crystals up on the third floor Tranquility studio, and since then we’ve had many big ah ha’s around our sacred space here and how we’d like to experience it as far as the flow of guests in and out of the space.

We realized that long term stays (longer than a month) just aren’t in the highest good for our family flow, and also that Adam and I needed some new clearly defined loving boundaries around how we prefer to welcome guests into our home & space and where they enter. And so came our new door bell, new signage to request the use of the doorbell and a new entrance to our house, that allows us an opportunity to see who’s coming rather than someone just appearing in our doorway once they reached the top of the stairs.

It’s all yoga and it has all been wonderful shifts in the flow of the space.

Adam has also began planting 100 new fruit trees in our previously unclaimed land so that has been a nice influx of new energy and I’ll share pictures of that soon too.

We’ve been enjoying quiet family
time, sacred ritual time (I got a new tarot card deck), time with our new kitten princess Anna, time implementing some new security measures and time for spontaneity with days of nothing planned. The Lanktuary has grown into such a beautiful reflection of us, the Lankas, and how we enjoy showing up in the world: with eyes, hearts and arms wide open, ready to embrace & integrate what and who comes our way. Cheers to life and it’s flow. May it be gentle in its teachings, and when it’s not, may you trust the twists and turns will take you somewhere worth being. Namaste 🙏🏻❤️🤘🏽

“This fabric is easily cleanable...” said both salesmen when we bought our patio furniture, our pool deck furniture and our sectional sofa. But...you know what furniture has not withstood having 5-6 dogs, a lot of guests and a toddler? All of the above. Therefore what you see here is all our cushions and our sectional packed up to be sent away to receive a recovering. And when it all returns, everything will finally be easily cleanable.

We’re thankful for this pause between guests, so we can upgrade the experience here and see how we can improve ❤️🌈🙏🏻

What you see here is the most Lankas the Lanktuary has ever hosted in its nearly 2 years of us living here. Aurora loved playing with her grandparents Anne & Brad, and her aunt April, and April’s friend Grace, who was so amazing with energetic & opinionated toddlers.

This trip kept getting postponed due to covid, so to finally have it unfold was such a relief and a ton of fun. Plus we are so grateful for help with everything here as we continue to find our flow and rituals as a family of 4. We learn more ways to improve the space and ceremony of hosting with each guest who comes, and I love that.
