Encanta La Vida is an unique jungle lodge located in the tropical rainforest of Southern Costa Rica. Situated on the tip of the remote and exotic Osa Peninsula, our beachfront Lodge in Cabo Matapalo offers adventurers the opportunity to witness one of the few untouched pristine regions in the country. Experience the sounds of the jungle, sunbathe on breathtaking beaches and see amazing wildlife all in one location. The Osa Peninsula is home to the highest density of wildlife in all of Costa Rica. Watch an incredible variety and abundance of animals and birds including monkeys, toucans, macaws, coatimundi, aguti and sloths right from your cabin patio. Birdwatching on the Osa Peninsula is world class with over 400 different species of birds in the area. “One of the most biologically diverse places on earth,” according to National Geographic! No need to worry about mosquitoes or other biting bugs though. Most guests never even have to use repellent during their stay with us and bites are very uncommon. Encanta La Vida is the only lodge located at the beach in the area. People come from all around on tours to experience the rainforest, wildlife and beaches we enjoy everyday. Also, our lodge is only 45 minutes from the world famous Corcovado National Park – crown jewel of the national park system. Enjoy a remote jungle vacation with all the amenities you need to ensure your comfort. Relax by our pool, explore the local rainforest, hike to the waterfalls, take an eco-tour or have a massage on our ocean view yoga deck. Thanksgiving may not be a Costa Rican holiday, but gratitude is woven into daily life here. In the Osa Peninsula, thankfulness grows from the land itself, from the sound of the waves, the call of the monkeys at sunrise, the warmth of community, and the joy found in simple moments.

Our Story

Encanta La Vida Rainforest Lodge was the first lodge established in the Cabo Matapalo area of the Osa Peninsula, Costa Rica. “Encanta La Vida” is Spanish for “enchanted life.” It literally translates to “loving life”.

The area at that time was just being discovered, literally as a ‘gold mine’. Many foreign firms mined and logged the wealth of the land on the Osa. The founder, Brian Daily, grew up in Costa Rica and purchased the property in 1988. Then he began building his dream – a relaxed, adventure hotel and lodge, to share with those traveling in Costa Rica.

Encanta La Vida isn’t just a lodge – it’s an experience. Our goal is to share the wonders of the jungle and the warm hospitality of local Costa Rican culture – all in a comfortable relaxed environment. For those seeking privacy and relaxation, it can be had. For those interested in an immersion into jungle life and local culture, you will be surrounded by it.
