Estamos estudiando la exposición de personas a immitis en Punta Morales desde la persoectiva . Por qué ahí? 🤷🏽‍♀️ Porque los perros 🐕 de esta zona resultan sistemáticamente positivos al 🪱❤️

Esta infección es una y en personas, pueden presentarse nódulos en pulmones 🫁 o tejido subcutáneo, tos 😷 o molestar general.

Así que si usted es o conoce a alguien de esta zona 🇨🇷, vamos a realizar la prueba serológica y un hemograma *gratis* , así como el tamizaje molecular de sus perros 🐶

**Late post** 🙈 En octubre del 2024 participamos activamente en el Congreso de Microbiología, Parasitologia y Patología Clínica, COMPAC 🔬 🧬 🦠 🧪 🪱 donde presentamos posters e hicimos dos presentaciones orales 🎤, e incluso ganó el premio al mejor póster de estudiante de pregrado 🏆

Fueron 3 días de aprendizaje y actualización intenso y nada más agradecemos a los organizadores por dejarnos presentar tantos trabajos interesantes sobre Helmintos 🙌🏽🪱❤️ que nuestros estudiantes han realizado!! 🫶🏽

We have been honored with passionate students and great collaborators that visited us , , , .serpairo and . We look forward to a 2025 full of interesting parasites and unexpected findings to report 🪱🔬🧬 and of course wish all of you a year of success and happiness ✨

Last week we were very fortunate of having Dr. Filipe Dantas-Torres of the visiting the University of Costa Rica 🇨🇷👏🏽 He shared in a very intense week the knowledge he has gained about filarioids, tick, vector borne pathogens and zoonosis.

The main aim of these visits is establishing new collaborations and thanks to the research intersections of the this will be possible 🙌🏽

So again, Filipe, many thanks for your visit and hopefully this won’t be the last 🙏🏽

and .serpairo visited our lab for two weeks and it was simply amazing 🤩 We searched for reptiles 🐊 🐍 and amphibians 🐸 in the Central Valley, the and even a jail 😅

Long story short: we found what we were looking for 🪱and more! Now there are more projects to come and great collaborations ongoing 🧬🙌🏽 between Italy 🇮🇹 and Costa Rica 🇨🇷

Ticks and Tick borne pathogens conference 2024 in Havana and Varadero, Cuba 🇨🇺 we presented a work carried out by our master student Raul Matamoros about Hepatozoon coevolution 🙌🏽

Also, gave a workshop about diagnosis, control and treatment of hemopathogens and endoparasites in the universidad Agraria de la Habana

Mónica Monge is in her final year of Microbiology and Clinical Chemistry at , . She is studying the helminth biome in sharks and different species of helminths found in wildlife of Costa Rica. Monica enjoys traveling, reading, crocheting, going to the gym and expending time with her friends and family.

Paragonimiasis is a parasitic disease that affects the pulmonary parenchyma in a variety of animals, including humans. It is caused by multiple species within the Paragonimus genus.
