Therapeutic Gap Semester for Young Adults and Teens

Pure Life Adventure is a research-based Wilderness Adventure Therapy program for young adults located in the beautiful country of Costa Rica. The program provides a unique opportunity for young adults to develop a higher level of intrinsic motivation, coping skills, and core identity that increases their ability to thrive. Pure Life implements a strengths-focused, integrated therapeutic model with an emphasis on adventure therapy, cultural immersion, health/wellness, community service, individual, group, and family therapy. Some of the adventure therapy components include white-water rafting, sea kayaking, rock climbing, rappelling, surfing, backpacking, and scuba, and certification courses.

🌊 Adventure Never Stops at Pure Life!

While winter blankets the US, our students are soaking up the Costa Rican summer sun and making a real difference for our planet.

✅ What we're up to:
Our students are part of an incredible sea turtle conservation project, patrolling beaches to find and protect precious nests before predators strike or poachers can take the eggs. Each discovered nest is carefully relocated to a protected nursery, and after about 45 days, the baby turtles are released into the ocean.

But the adventure doesn't end there! Between conservation patrols, we're:
🏄‍♀️ Surfing
🌴 Organizing beach cleanups
🌅 Connecting with Mother Nature

Gen Z has grown up with access to technology in a way no other generation has before them. I do think they understand that moderation is important but they don’t have any context for life without phones. We will figure this out, but it’s going to require discipline and self awareness.
