Congratulations to Dr. Jovana Marinković on being the first author of the recently published paper:
"Silver(I) Complexes Bearing S-Alkyl Thiosalicylic Acid Derivatives: DNA/BSA Binding and Antitumor Activity In Vitro and In Vivo." This work marks an important contribution to the study of silver-based compounds with antitumor potential. This study represents an excellent piece of collaborative work and a valuable contribution to the field of medicinal inorganic chemistry. Wishing her continued success in her scientific career!

Istraživači našeg centra, doc. dr Nevena Gajović i prof. dr Иван Јовановић držali su zapažena predavanja po pozivu na prvom SDIR HDIR MOKAD regionalnom kongresu istraživaca raka u Beogradu. Istovremeno su postavljeni temelji buduće naučne saradnje sa referentnim institucijama iz Budimpešte (Madjarska) Monpeljea (Francuska) i Atine (Grčka).

Researchers from our center, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nevena Gajović and Prof. Dr. Ivan Jovanović, delivered notable invited lectures at the first SDIR HDIR MOKAD Regional Cancer Research Congress held in Belgrade .info At the same time, the foundations were laid for future scientific collaboration with leading institutions from Budapest (Hungary), Montpellier (France), and Athens (Greece).

Sa velikim zadovoljstvom delimo vest da je Irfan Corovic član našeg centra, dobitnik National Scholar Award nagrade na UEG Week 2025, najvećem evropskom kongresu gastroenterologije. Njegovo istraživanje pod nazivom “IL-33/ST2-mediated inflammasome activation exacerbates alcohol-induced gastric mucosal damage” proglašeno je najboljim radom iz naše zemlje ove godine, što potvrđuje izuzetnost i značaj našeg kontinuiranog naučnog rada. Pored ove prestižne nagrade, Irfan je osvojio i Travel Grant za svoj izuzetan doprinos. Iskrene čestitke i njegovoj mentorki, dr Bojani Simović Marković, višem naučnom saradniku, čija je podrška i stručnost imala ključnu ulogu u ovom uspehu. Ovo je druga godina zaredom da naš centar dobija ovu prestižnu nagradu na UEG Week, što još jednom potvrđuje našu posvećenost unapređenju gastroenteroloških istraživanja i razvoju nove generacije naučnika.

We are thrilled to share that Irfan Ćorović, a member of our center, has received the National Scholar Award at UEG Week 2025, Europe’s leading congress in gastroenterology. His research, “IL-33/ST2-mediated inflammasome activation exacerbates alcohol-induced gastric mucosal damage,” was recognized as the best study from our country this year, highlighting the excellence and impact of our ongoing scientific work. In addition to this recognition, Irfan was also awarded a Travel Grant for his outstanding contribution. Heartfelt congratulations to his mentor, Dr. Bojana Simović Marković, Senior Research Associate, whose guidance played an essential role in this achievement. This is the second year in a row that our center has received this prestigious award at UEG Week, reaffirming our shared commitment to advancing gastroenterological research and nurturing the next generation of scientists.

This remarkable achievement is a result of his expertise and scientific dedication, but also a reflection of the strength of our research team, the Center for Molecular Medicine and Stem Cell Research, and the valuable collaborations we foster with colleagues from various biomedical fields.

Dr. Kemal Ćorović has successfully defended his PhD thesis “Synthesis, characterization, and evaluation of the biological activity of palladium(II) complexes with dialkyl esters of (S,S)-propylenediamine-N,N′-di-(2,2′-di-(4-hydroxybenzyl))acetic acid.”
The work, conducted at the Center for Molecular Medicine and Stem Cell Research, integrated inorganic chemistry, medicinal chemistry, and tumor biology to design new potential metal-based anticancer complexes. Supervisors were Research Associate Danijela Stojković (University of Kragujevac, Institute for Information Technologies) and Professor Bojan Stojanović (Faculty of Medical Sciences, University of Kragujevac).

Dr Kemal Ćorović je uspešno odbranio doktorsku disertaciju „Sinteza, karakterizacija i ispitivanje biološke aktivnosti kompleksa paladijuma(II) sa dialkil estrima (S,S)-propilendiamin-N,N’-di-(2,2’-di-(4-hidroksi-benzil)) sirćetne kiseline.”
Istraživanje je sprovedeno u Centru za molekulsku medicinu i istraživanje matičnih ćelija, kombinujući neorgansku i medicinsku hemiju sa biologijom tumora u cilju razvoja novih potencijalnih antitumorskih kompleksa metala. Mentori su bili naučni saradnik Danijela Stojković i prof. Bojan Stojanović (Univerzitet u Kragujevcu).

A new study investigates the role of IL-33 as a potential biomarker of poor early response in patients with neuroendocrine tumors undergoing peptide receptor radionuclide therapy. The research highlights the significance of IL-33 in assessing treatment outcomes and contributes to a better understanding of immunological factors involved in the management of these patients. Congratulations to Dr. Katarina Vuleta Nedić, the first author of the paper, for her outstanding contribution to this important study.

Novo istraživanje ispituje ulogu IL-33 kao mogućeg biomarkera slabog ranog odgovora kod pacijenata sa neuroendokrinim tumorima koji se leče peptidno-receptorskom radionuklidnom terapijom. Studija ističe značaj IL-33 u proceni terapijskog ishoda i doprinosi boljem razumevanju imunskih faktora u lečenju ovih pacijenata. Members of our center are authors of a new scientific paper titled "In Vivo, In Vitro, and In Silico Assessment of Anticancer Activity of the New Pincer-Type Pt(II) Complexes", published in the prestigious Journal of Medicinal Chemistry, a top-tier international journal classified in the highest-ranking M21a+ category. We are proud of the entire research team for their outstanding contribution to the field of medicinal chemistry.
Special congratulations go to Dr. Danijela Nićiforović, the first author of the paper. We also highlight the expertise and dedication of Prof. Snežana Jovanović Stević and senior research associate Dr. Bojana Simović Marković, whose efforts were instrumental in the successful completion of this research.

Our latest study explores the interactions between DNA and BSA (bovine serum albumin), as well as the immunomodulatory effects of a dinuclear platinum(II) complex with an aromatic 1,5-naphthyridine bridging ligand. 🧬⚗️
This research reveals potential pathways for the development of new antitumor agents and contributes to a better understanding of mechanisms at the molecular level.

Naš najnoviji rad bavi se interakcijama između DNK i BSA (serumskog albumina), kao i imunomodulatornim efektima dinuklearnog platinum(II) kompleksa sa aromatičnim 1,5-naftiridinskim mostom. 🧬⚗️
Ova studija otkriva potencijalne puteve za razvoj novih antitumorskih agenasa i doprinosi boljem razumevanju mehanizama na molekularnom nivou.
