For those who know me and may know my story know that I've been going through alot lately, But for those who dont me My name is Kimberly Skeete I'm 25 years old I was diagnosed with sickle cell disease at 1 year old , Ever since I've been back and forth from hospitals to hospitals I wasn't given a fair chance at life due to numerous hospitalizations I've been unable to keep a job because every time I do a crisis comes on. I've spent 26 days in a Coma in ICU after removing my gallbladder I developed a LOWER RESPIRATORY LUNG INFECTION where I wasn't aware of anything because I was heavily sedated in the coma. Doctors have told my mom and i that I wouldn't have made it to 18 years old on numerous occasions.
So to make my story much shorter in 2021 there wasn't a month that I wasn't hospitalized for numerous Lung infections, Acute chest syndrome, pneumonia, covid etc which have taken a toll on me mentally, emotionally, physically and spiritually to the point where I wanted to take my life and even tried due to fact of living with this long lasting disease that has no cure and the pain was unbearable. After going through all that I went through in 2021 I was in a vehicular accident in July 2022 where I were warded and I was diagnosed with AVN (Avascular Necrosis) in my right hip , I was told with a procedure and therapy it shouldn't have any long term effect on me . Due to the pain in the hip I was advised that I needed crotches to move around, as time pass by the pain began to increase . I've been attending orthopedic clinic to try to rectify the issue and I was told that they have the device to do the procedure, The 10th of October I was hospitalized due to excruciating pain and being unable to walk where I found out the AVN was getting worse and I also found out that the hospital will no longer be able to do the procedure because they don't have the device and the main doctor isn't in the country. Now I've been informed that in order to get the procedure done I will have to get it done privately and the cost is $60,000 and if I don't get done I will be bound to a wheelchair for the rest of my life.
