Caribbean Summit on Neurological Disorders. Speaking about NMTI: Neurological Music Therapy Interventions.
A heartfelt thank you to the organizers, speakers, and attendees for this inspiring weekeind, from Marjon Roos and Music Therapy Center Curaçao. It was a pleasure and inspiring to meet Dr Lousin Moumdjian from Faculteit Revalidatiewetenschappen Hasselt and learn how rhythms in music and metronomes can enhance physical rehabilitation for individuals with MS. It was also very nice to meet Dr Furlan from Canada/Brasil and talk Portuguese.

At the students introduction an interactive approach was used to emphasize the importance of viewing things from different perspectives. Collegue Josetti Ferreira shared her experience as a minor student at HAN Creative Arts Minor during her first time in the Netherlands. This served as a bridge to the topic of exchange.

A group of students of HAN University of Applied Sciences arrived at Curacao to work in different NGO's and Care institutes. The purpose of these meetings, given by Josetti Ferreira and Marjon Roos from Curacao, is to gain knowledge about Curaçaoan culture, customs, and traditions. Also to get to know each other, to offer mutual support during the internship. For example, students can share where to find a good car mechanic or where to buy the best Pastechis on the island. Information was provided about the do's and don'ts, traffic, safety, the governmental structure, and Curaçaoan holidays. Josetti told also about her first time visiting and studying in the Netherlands, which made a bridge for the students here.The event was a success. We wish the students an enjoyable internship period from August this year until January 2025.

Thank you Mental Health Caribbean Herman Atsma and Marielle Hoekstra for the invitation to participate at the Short Intensive Child Trauma Week (Papiamento KIT-week) with Music Therapy interventions to children with trauma in Bonaire. Thanks also to Mireille Joseph for her enthousiasm to bring Music Therapy to Bonaire. It was a inspiring intensive workweek. Also very nice with collegue from Curacao Shanty Guanipa. As a therapist it's been a journey of reflection and growth, filled with valuable moments of insights!
