הכירו את לילה בת השתיים-עשרה, זאבה מעורבת המתגוררת באפסטייט ניו יורק.
לילה סובלת מנוירופתיה שמשפיעה על רגליה האחוריות. בשבועות האחרונים היא על תרופות כדי להקל על כאביה ולהילחם בדלקת (או תהליכים אחרים) בעמוד השדרה שלה. המחלה הכרונית משפיעה על העצבים ההיקפיים אשר מעצבבים את שרירי הגפיים שלה.
לילה בתצלום שומרת על עצם שהיא קיבלה כאקסטרה ״ממתק״. היא לא גורסת אותה. רק יושבת שם - קשורה לרצועה ארוכה, כי הפעילות שלה חייבת להיות מוגבלת - ושומרת עליה אבל כשהיא חושבת שמישהו עומד לחטוף אותה ממנה, היא חושפת שיניים ומוכנה לתקוף. בחווה, ישנן גם תרנגולות המשוטטות חופשי במהלך היום. כאשר אחת מהן מתקרבת יתר על המידה ללילה, היא מגיבה. לפעמים זה נראה כאילו לילה פשוט מגיבה לרוח רפאים דמיוני ... זה כל כך מצחיק לראות אותה אז. בעבר, כשהיתה צעירה יותר, נהגה לתקוף את התרנגולות ולהרוג אותן. אבל אחרי ״סדרת חינוך" של ד׳, היא הפסיקה לעשות את זה; התרנגולות ולילה חיות בשלום מאז. שמש, הכלב הזכר, כמובן שמקבל גם הוא עצם משלו, אבל הוא "עובד" עליה, חותך וגורס אותה לגזרים בכמה שעות, ופוף... היא נעלמת לתוך מערכת העיכול שלו.
Meet Lyla the 12 years old female Shepherd mix who lives in Upstate New York.
Lyla suffers from a neuropathy which affects both her hind limbs. The past few weeks she’s on meds to ease on her pain and fight the inflammation (or other pathology) in her spinal cord. The disease affects the peripheral nerves which affects the muscles of her limbs.
In the photo Lyla is guarding a bone she got as a treat. She is not chewing on it. Just sits there - tied to a long leash since her activity needs to be limited - but when she thinks someone is going to grab it from her, she growls and ready to attack. At the farm, there are also chickens who roam free during the day. When one of them is getting too close to Lyla, she acts. Sometimes it seems like Lyla just acts to an imagined ghost...it’s so funny to watch her then. In the past, when younger, she used to attack the chickens and kill them. But after she got a few “education” sessions from D’, she stopped doing it; the chickens and Lyla live in peace ever since. Shemesh, the male dog, of course gets the same treat, but he “works” on the bone, shreds it to pieces in a few hours, and puff...it’s gone into his GI tract.
