✈️ Travel Medicine Fees for DPHC Overseas Civilian Patients

With effect from 1st July 2025 there will be a new mechanism for charging for entitled civilian patients requesting travel medicines.

The following travel vaccines are free and in line with NHS direction, this list will be reviewed when the NHS policy regarding travel medicine is changed. This policy by the NHS is under review.

🛫(Polio) Combined diphtheria/tetanus/polio.
🛫Typhoid
🛫Hepatitis A
🛫Cholera – this will ONLY be provided if it meets the strict criteria

All other vaccines and medicines for travel purposes not related to duty and posting for registered entitled family members and other non-military patients will be charged.

If a decision is made to supply or administer travel medicines then the following charges will be levied:

🌍 For all travel antimalarial prophylaxis irrespective of course length the charge will be £25

🌍 For all travel vaccinations the charge will be £50 per vaccine (e.g., patient is required to have a course of 3 rabies vaccines they will be charged for the number of rabies vaccines administered thus a full course will be £150)

The charge is NOT per item but per vaccine

Individuals who are exempt from prescription charges will still be expected to pay for travel medicines. This includes children.

*Medical and maternity exemptions do not apply to travel medicines.

*Prescription Prepayment Certificate holders will also pay for travel medicines.

*Vaccinations and or malaria prophylaxis administered or supplied on Patient Group Directions or prescribed will incur the charge.

For regular military personnel, all travel medicines recommended by recognised travel medicine information sources are supplied against prescriptions issued by DPHC Medical Treatment Facilities (MTFs) at no charge to the individual, whether the travel is duty-related or not.

If the same travel medicine is supplied via a travel clinic the charges would be significantly higher. This will ensure that DPHC overseas registered entitled civilians are being correctly charged for a service. This service will not generate profit but merely make a charge for a service that will be in part aligned to DPHC UK.

🚨 A planned Outage will take place on Wednesday 27th August 0700 - 1300. This is to conduct important server maintenance which will affect all island medical facilities.

This will result in the Med Centre being unable to access any IT such as medical records, appointments or any online applications.

All planned appointments have been cancelled for this reason and have/will be rebooked.

We will be unable to conduct any administration during this time so please only present to the medical centre for urgent care or advice.

Emergency & Urgent care will be provided by the Duty Team and the Ambulance Service.

Sorry for any inconvenience that may cause.

Recently there has been an increase in Did Not Attend (DNA) across all appointment slots.

This is impacting our ability to deliver effective timely care to all our patients.

A reminder of what classes as a DNA:

•DNA no reason given

•DNA cancellation within 1 full working day

•Patient arrived late and unable to complete appointment aims in time slot.

We understand that there are times when patients genuinely forget, or have valid reasons for a missed appointment.

An accumulation of DNA’s will be investigated and appropriate action taken inline with DPHC SOP 1-13-2.

This also applies to missed family member and child appointments.

Thank you.

📢 Important information for patients attending State hospitals 📢

BFC personnel should present their STATUS card to the registrations desk on arrival.

The SHSO should invoice BFC-HQ-Med-Billing@mod.gov.uk

If you do not present your status card, you will be required to initially pay a prepayment of €100 for A&E presentation or €500 for admission.

This can be reimbursed by sending the invoice to the email address.

This message is still filtering down to all State Hospital staff from their managers.

⭐️ keep a photo of all family member Status Cards ⭐️

18/06/2025

Due to an increase in demand and unforeseen staff shortages the next available routine doctors appointment is 7 working days.
Please keep this in mind when booking appointments.

Thank you for your understanding.

18/06/2025

Patients are required to inform their DPHC Medical Facility about any care or medication obtained privately to ensure correct reflection in their medical record and consideration of occupational ramifications.

This is most recently pertinent to GLP1RA (Wegovy & Mounjaro)

Thank you
