It is a great time to get your mat and discover some of the most ancient and effective Yoga poses that Yoga practitioners use all the time around the world. Here are some of the poses that will help you to start:
1. Tree Pose — is a great way to practice your balance, gain focus and clarity. Do not forget to control your breath while trying it out. To execute the pose, you need to bring your hands together in the prayer position and bend your left knee or right knee and hold it for about 30 seconds, then switch the knee and repeat.
2. Low Lunge - provides recovery after a workout and boosts your energy while working to improve this posture. The pose demands a strong sense of balance combined with a good physical composure of legs, hips, and groin. In order to execute it, you need to drop your left or right knee and release your back foot. Come up and rest both hands on your front thigh. Meditate and relax.
3. Revolved Triangle - is a yoga pose that stimulates the abdominal organs, strengthens and stretches your legs, and improves your sense of balance. In order to execute this pose, fix your legs in a wide stance, parallel and scissor toward each other with the top hand reaching up while the bottom hand is reaching the ground.
4. Warrior III Pose - will strengthen your ankles and legs, shoulder and back muscles and improve your balance and posture. This pose can be challenging for beginners, so you should not give up. In order to execute this pose, stand straight (also called a mountain pose) then transfer your weight to the left leg and as you inhale, lift your arms over your head. Exhale, raise your right leg back, and bend at the hips until your upper body is parallel to the floor. Hold this pose for 30 secs to 1 minute and then repeat.
As you progress, you can try more challenging poses, but it is always a good idea to keep things simple when you are a beginner. For more advanced Yoga practice, you can always contact me anytime. I am happy to help beginners as well as more advanced students.
