“Why Do My Tendons Turn to Stone?”

Ever heard someone say:

“It feels like I have a rock in my shoulder or heel!”

That’s often tendon calcification — when calcium deposits build up inside a tendon. It can cause pain, stiffness, or inflammation, especially in the shoulder, Achilles tendon, or hip.

But here’s the more important question:

Why does the body do this?

From my years of experience in massage therapy and yoga-based healing work, I’ve seen that calcification is not a mistake. It’s the body’s way of stabilising a tendon that has been overused, poorly repaired, or not receiving enough circulation.

In simple words:
🧱 The tendon got tired
🩸 The healing couldn’t finish
⚠️ The body tried to patch it with calcium

And the good news?

The body can reverse it, under the right conditions.

What helps?

✅ Gentle, mindful movement — not aggressive stretching
✅ Bringing blood flow and warmth to the area —
👉 But only after the acute inflammation has passed!
✅ Releasing tension in the nearby fascia and muscle
✅ Creating the right inner and outer space for the body to reabsorb the calcium

And of course: Yoga and Massage!

I’ve seen many people improve without injections or surgery. It takes patience, awareness, and support, but it’s possible.
