Are there non-surgical skin tightening treatments after massive weight loss?
The answer is no. Non-surgical skin tightening treatments can help improve skin firmness to a certain degree — usually around 40–50%. However, in patients who have experienced massive weight loss, non-invasive skin tightening treatments cannot provide the desired results, as the excess skin is often significant.
Our patient, after 2 pregnancies, experienced breast sagging and wanted to restore her breasts to their pre-pregnancy appearance. She chose the technique, which can increase the size by up to 2 cups.
The results are shown 2 weeks after the procedure, with Motiva Diamond DSD 195 implants.

Treatments I would personally avoid as a plastic surgeon:
1️⃣Thread lifts
Threads do not create true skin tightening or lifting. What they mainly induce is fibrosis and scar-like tissue formation beneath the skin. Similar to how a scar initially feels firm and pulls the skin, threads can create a temporary sensation of tightness. However, this effect typically subsides after a few months, often leaving fibrotic tissue beneath the skin rather than a meaningful lifting result.
2️⃣Hyaluronic acid filler under the eyes
In the first few days, the aesthetic outcome may appear very pleasing. Over time, however, hyaluronic acid can attract and retain water, which may lead to puffiness or under-eye bags in this delicate area. This can ultimately make the eyes appear more tired rather than refreshed. When true under-eye bags are present, a surgical approach is usually required for correction.
Careful patient evaluation and appropriate treatment selection remain essential for achieving safe and predictable aesthetic outcomes!
Our patient chose the procedure because it is a minimally invasive and quick surgery, allowing her to return to her daily routine very soon.
After two pregnancies and breastfeeding, she experienced significant breast laxity, which made her feel insecure about her body. Her goal was to restore a natural-looking result that would help her feel confident again.
The procedure lasted only 20 minutes, and the patient did not feel or notice anything during the surgery. She was even able to raise her arms immediately after the procedure.

Our 36-year-old patient presented with significant asymmetry and bilateral breast ptosis. She wished to achieve both a lift and increased volume in the décolleté area.
She underwent breast augmentation with mastopexy using Motiva implants of different sizes.
Postoperatively, she now has a symmetrical, lifted breast contour, achieving the result she had always desired.

This patient presented with skin laxity and loss of definition in the submental area (double chin).
With FaceTite, we performed targeted radiofrequency-assisted contouring to address tissue laxity and improve the cervicomental angle. Our patient underwent Ribeiro mastopexy to improve breast shape, position and symmetry.
Preoperatively, the right breast presented with greater volume and increased ptosis. The surgical plan was carefully tailored to address this asymmetry and achieve a more balanced and harmonious result.

H Δρ Ηλιάνα Στρούθου μεγάλωσε στη Λάρνακα της Κύπρου. Από πολύ νωρίς εξέφρασε την αγάπη της για την Ιατρική την οποία μετέτρεψε σε στόχο ζωής.
Μετά την αποφοίτηση της από την βασική εκπαίδευση μετακόμισε στην Λειψία της Γερμανίας ακολουθώντας το όνειρο της. Σπούδασε στη Ιατρική Σχολή του Πανεπιστημίου της Λειψίας – Universität Leipzig, στο δεύτερο παλαιότερο σε συνεχή λειτουργία Πανεπιστήμιο της Γερμανίας.
Τελείωσε την ειδικότητά της στην Πλαστική, Αισθητική και Επανορθωτική Χειρουργική σε μεγάλα Πανεπιστημιακά και ιδιωτικά Νοσοκομεία της Γερμανίας, όπως το Πανεπιστημιακό Νοσοκομείο της Λειψίας, την Κλινική Αισθητικής Χειρουργικής και Κέντρο Μαστού στο Schwerin και την Κλινική Πλαστικής και Επανορθωτικής Χειρουργικής με Κέντρο Εγκαυμάτων του Νοσοκομείου St. Georg στην Λειψία, η οποία κατέχει πιστοποιήσεις Ηand Trauma and Replantation Center από την HTC/FESSH ( Hand Trauma Committee oft the European Societies for Surgery of the Hand) . Εκεί της δόθηκε η δυνατότητα να εκπαιδευτεί στις πιο σύγχρονες τεχνικές κοσμητικής πλαστικής χειρουργικής, αποκατάστασης και μικροχειρουργικής από παγκοσμίου φήμης επιστήμονες.
Είναι κάτοχος διδακτορικού μετά από ολοκλήρωση έρευνας με θέμα «Role of bone morphogenetic protein 7 (BMP – 7) in appetite regulation and adipogenesis» σε συνεργασία με το κέντρο παχυσαρκίας του Πανεπιστημίου της Λειψίας.
Η πρακτική της εμπειρία ξεκίνησε με κοσμητικές επεμβάσεις σε ασθενείς μετά από χειρουργικές και μη θεραπείες νοσογόνου παχυσαρκίας καθώς επίσης και στην χειρουργική αφαίρεση καρκινωμάτων δέρματος.
Στην συνέχεια ειδικεύτηκε στις αισθητικές επεμβάσεις προσώπου και μαστού αλλά και στην αποκατάσταση μαστού, όπου ανέπτυξε ένα ιδιαίτερο ενδιαφέρον στην αποκατάσταση μαστού μετά από καρκίνο.
Είχε την ευκαιρία να εκπαιδευτεί σε εξειδικευμένες επεμβάσεις αποκατάστασης μαστού τόσο με ενθέματα αλλά και μέσω μικρο-χειρουργικών επεμβάσεων αποκατάστασης με αυτόλογους ιστούς. Κατά της διάρκεια της εκπαίδευσης της εργάστηκε σε κέντρο εγκαυμάτων όπου η αντιμετώπιση και θεραπεία εγκαυμάτων αλλά και των επιπλοκών τους βρίσκονταν στο επίκεντρο της καθημερινής της εργασίας.
Παράλληλα με τις δραστηριότητες της ολοκλήρωσε και τις σπουδές της στην Διατροφική Ιατρική στο ινστιτούτο ΒΤΒ της Γερμανίας.
Η Δρ. Στρούθου είναι κάτοχος πιστοποιητικού DAS (German Society of Senology), το οποίο απονέμεται μετά από εκπαίδευση και εξετάσεις σε ειδικούς θεραπείας και αποκατάστασης μαστού μετά από καρκίνο.
Λαμβάνει ενεργά μέρος σε πολλαπλά συνέδρια τον χρόνο καθώς θεωρεί ότι η ανελλιπής και συνεχής ενημέρωση για τις πιο σύγχρονες μεθόδους στην πλαστική χειρουργική αποτελεί υποχρέωση αλλά και προϋπόθεση της παροχής θεραπειών προς τους ασθενείς της.
Είναι ενεργό μέλος του DGPRÄG (German Society of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery), DGCH (German Society of Surgery), ISAPS (International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery) και DAS (German Society of Senology).
Μετά από 16 χρόνια διαμονής στη Γερμανία αποφάσισε να επιστρέψει στη γενέτειρα της την Κύπρο όπου προσφέρει τις υπηρεσίες της ως πλαστικός χειρουργός από το Μάρτιο του 2020.
