Mrs. Marina Mappouridou is a qualified Psychologist, movement & dance psychotherapist, with 12 years of international experience. Marina's experience includes extensive research in generalized anxiety disorder and social phobia, as well as the application of movement & dance psychotherapy in children and youths with special needs. She is the Vice-Pres
ident and registered member of the Dance Therapy Association of Cyprus and The European Association of Dance & Movement Therapy (E.A.D.M.T.). Now based in Cyprus, she practices with groups and individuals. Work Experience:
Marina has worked as a psychologist and dance movement psychotherapist in Greece, the United Kingdom, and Cyprus applying skills and knowledge in multiple environments & age groups including kids, adults, and the elderly since 2009. She has experience in settings that require health & social psychology, movement psychotherapy, play therapy, counseling, mental health support, activities/group therapy co-ordination, community project psychotherapy, and dance psychotherapy. Marina grew up in Limassol. At the age of 17 she moved to Greece to Study Psychology and received her BSc(Hons) from the Panteion University of Athens. Parallel to her studies and her continued involvement in modern dancing she began learning Latin and received the associate Diploma in dance teaching with a grade of 95% and was nominated for the John Dilworth Scholarship Award of the International Dance Teachers Association (I.D.T.A.). Her professional diplomas do not stop there, as she has been awarded a level 3 diploma in Dance Instruction from the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (I.S.T.D) in Modern Theatre Dance. Her love and passion for both psychology and dance motivated her to unify both fields. Her final thesis at Panteion was related to Psychotherapy through the art of Dance. In 2010 Marina moved to Edinburgh, Scotland to unite art and science, completing her MSc in Dance Movement Psychotherapy at Queen Margaret University.
