- Professor Pantelis Papadopoulos -
Pantelis Papadopoulos MD, PhD, FEBO, FEBOS-CR, is an anterior segment surgeon based in Athens, Greece, with subspecialty interests in cataract, glaucoma, corneal, and refractive surgery, artificial iris implantation, and anterior segment reconstruction.
He serves as Director of the Ophthalmology Department at Athens Metropolitan Hospital, a position he has held since 2002, and is the Founder and Medical Director of the Ophthalmo-Check Eye Centre in Athens. He also holds the title of Clinical Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at the University of Nicosia, Athens Branch.
Professor Papadopoulos is a Fellow of the European Board of Ophthalmology and holds a PhD from the University of Leipzig, Germany.
In 2017, he was among the first 15 European ophthalmic surgeons to be awarded the FEBOS-CR title. He served as President of the Hellenic Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery from 2007 to 2011 and as Vice President from 2011 to 2019. He was Editor-in-Chief of the quarterly journal Ophthalmochirurgiki (Ophthalmic Surgery) from 1999 to 2024 and is a member of numerous Hellenic and international ophthalmological societies.
His academic and surgical distinctions include participation in the first Quadruple Anterior Segment Reconstruction procedure worldwide in 2012 and the first SING IMT implantation with femtosecond laser assistance worldwide in May 2022.
