I have stayed quiet about this long enough.
Time and time again, I see health practitioners in Cyprus whether doctors, nurses, naturopaths, life coaches, or other dietitians/nutritionists, slander supplements and their uses.
They either do not have the educational foundations to know how to use them as a healing protocol or they get perks and benefits from selling them.
The thing is, supplements do hold an important part in healing therapies. But here is the caveat…
We all need to find trained and seasoned professionals, who actually know how to give supplement advice based on a patient’s medical history, one’s genetic profile, lifestyle, and so much more.
Throwing supplements at a disease state instead of thoroughly reviewing and understanding what a person needs to heal is basically covering a symptom instead of addressing the root cause.
Supplements are not the bad guy. The people with insufficient training who stand to gain financial benefit are.
This is why I have never and will never align myself with any supplement company, even if they are pharmaceutical grade. I prefer to recommend the products I believe in so that I maintain my integrity as a functional medicine nutritionist and offer each patient my honest and professional outlook for their health.
To the rest of the professionals in Cyprus, you really need to ask yourselves, do you really know how to recommend supplements or are you doing it because you make a profit or stand out in the market?
As a patient myself for many years who has figured out who to trust and who not to trust, it is time to finally stand up united against people who only see us as euros instead of human beings with minds, bodies, and spirits.
I have seen countless patients suffer under the advice of practitioners who really don’t know what they are doing.
Enough is enough!
And ps… targeted supplementation is only a part of the puzzle. Prioritizing sleep, exercise, good food, stress management, and great relationships are the foundation for any healing therapy.
And another side note…I don’t blame patients for trying to find solutions to their health problems from instagram or tik tok. For me, it is a huge sign that we are failing them and their trust in us.
How would you guys like me to serve you better to bring you up to date research and things I have learned in practice?
Podcast? Online programs? Real life lectures?
I would love to hear from you! We need to start a revolution and take control of our health and I am a huge advocate of how the right knowledge can help us be more empowered when we have conversations with any health practitioner we choose to visit.
Thanks for reading to the end. Looking forward to hearing your insights…
