Gallstones are hard deposits that form in your gallbladder, a small, pear-shaped sac that stores and secretes bile for digestion. Gallstones can occur when substances that make up the bile become too concentrated and form a hard stone.

When gallstones block the ducts leading from your gallbladder to your intestines, they can cause sharp pain in your upper-right abdomen.

If you experience any of the below symptoms, see your doctor immediately:

- Sudden and rapidly intensifying pain in the upper right portion of your abdomen.
- Sudden and rapidly intensifying pain in the center of your abdomen, just below your breastbone.
- Back pain between your shoulder blades.
- Pain in your right shoulder.
- Nausea or vomiting.

When stomach acid backs up into your esophagus, a condition called acid reflux, you may feel a burning pain in the middle of your chest.

If you experience persistent heartburn, bad breath, unexplained tooth erosion, nausea, pain in your chest or upper part of your abdomen, or have trouble swallowing or breathing, see your doctor.
Most people find relief by avoiding certain foods and beverages that trigger their symptoms, or taking over-the-counter antacids or other medication that reduces stomach acid production and inflammation of the esophagus.

Lifestyle changes like elevating the head of the bed, not lying down after a meal, and quitting smoking can also help.

However, some cases of GERD require stronger treatment, such as acid-blocking medication or even surgery.

If you suspect you have such symptoms, don't delay in speaking with your doctor.

🎄 Keep Your Digestive System Merry and Bright This Christmas 🎄

The holiday season is filled with joy, celebration, and lots of delicious food! Here are some tips to keep your gut happy during Christmas:

🎅 Balance Indulgence with Moderation
Enjoy your holiday favorites, but watch portion sizes to avoid overloading your stomach.

🍪 Choose Treats Wisely
Rich desserts and heavy meals can be tempting, but balance them with lighter options like fresh fruits or veggie platters.

🍹 Limit Sugary and Alcoholic Drinks
Festive cocktails and sugary beverages can disrupt digestion. Stay hydrated with water or herbal teas.

🍗 Go Easy on Fatty Foods
Fried and creamy dishes can trigger acid reflux or bloating. Opt for roasted or grilled options instead.

🎁 Stay Active
After a big meal, take a brisk walk or engage in light activity to support digestion.

💡 Tip: Stress can impact your gut health, so take time to relax and enjoy the holiday spirit!
