Dear Esteemed EMDR Therapist Colleagues,
It brings us immense joy and pride to share wonderful news with you at the start of this beautiful new year. After a long and meticulous journey, our association, EMDR Cyprus Association, has been officially established!
EMDR Cyprus Association is one of the rare, bi-communal and cross-cultural organizations registered in the Republic of Cyprus“.
We live in a world shaped by the weight of trauma. However, we all know that EMDR therapy is an effective method that allows individuals to understand, transform, and leave their traumas behind. This therapy, which brings hope to an increasing number of people every day, also makes a significant contribution to the development of a culture of empathy and peace between communities. As EMDR therapists on this small island of Cyprus, we aim to support both the pursuit of individual inner peace and the strengthening of societal and intercommunal harmony. To this end, we set out with the following objectives:
• To expand the practice of EMDR therapy,
• To enhance collaboration and solidarity among our colleagues,
• To contribute to international standards in education and practice.
The establishment of EMDR Cyprus Association, governed by a dual co-presidency system based on the principle of equality, provides a strong platform to achieve these goals.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to EMDR Europe Association President Olivier Piedfort-Marin and the Board of Directors for their unwavering support throughout this process, both financially and morally. We are especially grateful to the esteemed Isabel Fernandez, past president and international representative, for her dedicated contributions during this journey. We would also like to express our sincere thanks to EMDR Greece and EMDR Turkey Associations, who have consistently made us feel their steadfast support.
We are excited to announce that EMDR Cyprus Association is here for all of us!
With love and respect,
On behalf of the EMDR Cyprus Association Board of Directors,
Co-Presidents Ziliha Uluboy and Anthia Christodoulou Theofilou
