The American Heart Institute founded in July 1999 as a Private Hospital and at the beginning it offered Cardiology related services. In February 2011 the hospital moved in his own property in Strovolos and expanded the spectrum of service.

He completed his medical education at the University of Thrace and pursued residency training at the General Hospital of Limassol, the General Hospital of Nicosia, and Queen Alexandra Hospital in Portsmouth, UK. He further enhanced his specialisation through a post-doctorate MSc in Rhinology and Rhinosurgery.

Dr. Kounounis has a particular academic interest in rhinology, nose plastic surgery, and pediatric ENT, bringing specialised knowledge to both surgical and non-surgical patient care.
Dedicated to improving patients’ breathing, nasal function, and overall quality of life, Dr. Kounounis provides compassionate, individualised ENT care tailored to each patient’s needs.

He graduated from the Medical School of Athens and completed his internship and residency at the Medical School of Hannover. His post-doctorate training included leadership roles as Vice Chairman at the University of Freiburg, C3 Professor at the University of Mainz, and Assistant Professor and Vice Chairman at the University of Thessalia.

Dr. Marangos holds certifications in Allergology, Special ENT Surgery, and ENT Plastic Surgery, with academic interests in ear and lateral skull base surgery, cochlear implants, rhinology, and minimally invasive ENT surgery.

He has authored over 100 scientific publications, presented more than 400 times at international meetings, co-authored several ENT handbooks, and served as an invited faculty member in multiple international ENT congresses.

Dedicated to patient-centred ENT care, Dr. Marangos combines clinical excellence with cutting-edge surgical expertise to improve patient outcomes and quality of life.

She graduated from the University of Würzburg, Germany, completed her internship at Makarios Hospital in Nicosia, and her residency at KAT, Penteli Children’s Hospital, and Agia Olga Hospital in Athens. Her advanced postdoctoral training in Germany included Endoscopic Sinus Surgery (FESS), Rhinoplasty, and Neurotology, with a focus on vertigo and tinnitus.

Dr. Marangos is a co-founder of the ENT Center in Rotweil, Germany, and has served as a co-instructor in cochlear implant and ear surgeries across Turkey, Jordan, Kuwait, and Saudi Arabia, providing programming for children and adults.

A member of the German and Greek ENT Societies, she has multiple publications in national and international journals. Dr. Marangos is dedicated to patient-centred ENT care, improving hearing, breathing, and quality of life.

In India, a pioneering program is training blind and visually impaired women to detect breast cancer at its earliest stages, using only their sense of touch.

These women, known as Medical Tactile Examiners (MTEs), undergo nine months of specialised training to perform highly detailed breast examinations. Their heightened sense of touch enables them to detect lumps as small as 6–8mm, and sometimes even smaller than those found by physicians during routine checks.

This method, developed by the German initiative Discovering Hands, is now being used in India, where breast cancer is the leading cause of cancer deaths among women. With less than 1% of women attending breast screening programs, MTEs are helping to bridge the gap, especially in underserved communities.

Research shows MTEs not only match physicians in accuracy, but also help women feel more comfortable during the examination.

By transforming disability into ability, this approach provides a cost-effective and innovative solution for early cancer detection and awareness.
