What a delight. Dave Rogers led a transformative workshop at Yoga Shala in Tala, focusing on the vital connection between breath and movement in yoga. We explored Ta***ic philosophy, applied it to classic Hatha Yoga postures, and honed pranayama techniques 🙏

After the class we all felt like we had a very relaxing and intimate experience. It's like getting under the covers and resting after a long and tiring day. So refreshing 🌸🤍

In the realm of yoga, there’s no greater asset than mastering the art of breath. This Saturday, April 27th, we invite you to learn essential techniques for bringing attention to your breath while practicing yoga. You will gently apply these techniques to classic postures from the Hatha Yoga tradition, giving you the tools you need to make your yoga a beautiful form of moving Pranayama.

What to expect:
🌸 Discussion of the Ta***ic philosophical approach to yoga practice
🌸 Integration of those ideas into an actual practice, consisting of yoga postures, pranayama, mantra and guided meditation

If you are a beginner this is the perfect way to start practicing yoga. Learning to receive and cherish the intimate relationship between your body and breath is the critical foundation of a beginning yoga practice.

MEET THE TEACHER: ALENA SHAIDULINA 🌚

Today we want to introduce you to one of our teachers, the founder of Yoga Shala in Tala — Alena Shaidulina . We interviewed her about her journey of life and yoga.

Here is what Alena shared:

“I created Yoga Shala as a yoga sanctuary, where every breath is an invitation to explore the connection between mind, body, and spirit. Whether you’re an expectant mother, a teenager navigating life’s twists, or a seasoned elder embracing the wisdom of age, there’s a place for you 🫶

Facts about me:
▪️ I am an Authorized Level I Ashtanga yoga teacher. I was blessed to teach Ashtanga yoga by Sharath Jois, a legendary yoga master, in Yoga Institute in Mysore, India (2016).
▪️I was certified as a Pramayama and Vinyasa Ashtanga Yoga teacher at Sri Patanjala Yogashala in Mysore, India (2012)

But my vision extends beyond the confines of the yoga studio. I’m a believer in the power of community, in the magic that happens when like-minded souls come together in pursuit of growth. That’s why I’m dedicated to creating spiritual hubs in awe-inspiring locales—a haven where you can nourish your soul and forge meaningful connections.

I’m also passionate about bringing the principles of well-being into the corporate world, recognizing the importance of balance and rejuvenation in our professional lives. Through business wellness retreat projects, I’m privileged to help organizations cultivate environments that prioritize both productivity and personal fulfillment 🤍

But perhaps what excites me most is the never-ending journey of learning and growth. MYSORE YOGA

Mysore yoga is a way of practicing yoga where you develop your own personal practice that suits your body best. In Mysore yoga you have the freedom to move at your own rhythm, focus on the postures and breath meditatively. There is no need to follow the same sequence and pace as the teacher or other practitioners.

❓Is Mysore yoga practiced in a group?

Mysore yoga is practiced collectively, but everyone is doing their own thing. There is no restrictions in terms of a group size — the only limitation is the room size 😄 That said, Mysore yoga can be called an «individual practice in group settings», and it is popular among those who want to learn their bodies better while practicing sequences. For some, it may be quite an intimate experience.

❓What does the teacher do then?

If there are 6 practitioners in the room, there is 6 individual classes that the teacher gives at the same time. The teacher provides each student with 1:1 guidance on their own practice if needed, gives advice and shares wisdom with the practitioner on an individual base. There is no «leading» happening, only serving and assisting.

❓Do I need to have a yoga experience to visit a Mysore class?

No. If you are a complete beginner, the teacher will ask you about your background (health, sports, goals, etc.), explain the foundations of a Mysore style and show you a few poses to practice and explore on your own, like Sun Salutations. While you will be flowing and finding your grounds, the teacher will help you and give instructions, if needed.

From the moment the doors opened, there was a sense of excitement in the air. Yogis of all levels gathered together to celebrate wellness, community, and the joy of yoga at the Yoga Shala Open Day yesterday 🙏

We want to thank everyone who joined us for this special event 🤍 Your presence made it truly memorable, and we can’t wait to welcome you back to the Shala soon.
