Les Irwin, 16.04.1942-14.11.2024 RIP

There is a train at the station, With a seat reserved just for me.
I’m excited about its destination, As I’ve heard it sets you free.
The trials and tribulations, The pain and stress we breathe,
Don’t exist where I am going, Only happiness I believe.

I hope that you will be there, To wish me on my way.
It’s not a journey you can join in, It’s not your time today.
There’ll be many destinations, Some are happy, some are sad.
Each one a brief reminder, Of the great times that we’ve had.

Many friends I know are waiting, Who took an earlier train,
To greet and reassure me, That nothing has really changed.
We’ll take the time together,
To catch up on the past,
To build a new beginning,
One that will always last.

One day you’ll take your journey,
On the train just like me,
And I promise that I’ll be there
At the station, you will see.

Baloo, my most recent foster.

A vet once told me a story about her first job when she was a fresh new-grad, wherein which she euthanised ringworm kittens all day, every day.
She said this with a bitter, matter of fact tone, and then told me there was no point in trying to rescue ringworm kittens.
In shelters whole litters will get humanely euthanised because of this fungal infection, that’s comparable to althete’s foot.
“It’s too contagious and difficult to contain.”

“It’s takes too long to resolve and by then the kittens aren’t cute enough to be adopted.”

“It’s too much of an infection risk for other patients and a drain on clinic resources.”

If you’re a vet nurse or a cat rescuer who has taken home a ringworm kitten despite all the warnings and discouragement, you are not alone, you’re not weak, and you have made the right decision.
Thank you to all those risking their homes, their own pets and their own health to help Sydney’s ringworm kittens.

Meet Fred & George - AVAILABLE, Dundas
These dudes have had a rough time, they were abandoned by their animal hoarding owner, spent months in boarding facilities waiting for her to collect them, moved from foster home to foster home, and now they are in dire need of a real forever home. They are very sweet and affectionate little guys, who are completely inseparable! So they must be adopted together. Fred is outgoing and curious, whilst George is a shy couch potato. Both are very snuggly when they get to know you. Due to being moved around so much they are a bit sensitive and anxious, so more suited to a quiet home environment without dogs or small children. Being rescues, we don't know much about their history, but George exhibits some signs of previous abuse so lots of love and patience is required for him! They come with all their vet work done and are treated regularly for parasites. No adoption fees, just the right PERMANENT home for these beautiful brothers. PM me and comment below if you do.

My housemate and I operate a small scale animal welfare charity out of our home, and we have a lot of expenses, which we mostly cover with our own wages. This month our shifts have been cut and we don't have enough money to feed ourselves and the cats and kittens in our care, not to mention litte...
