🇬🇧 When dreams touch the strings – Ian Anderson’s guitar from Jethro Tulll in Tloskov 🎸
Sometimes a single moment is enough to carry great meaning. For David, it was the moment he fulfilled his dream – to play a guitar that once belonged to his favorite singer, Ian Anderson from Jethro Tull.
David is a presenter at Radio Tloskov who didn’t find his way to people through his voice, but through determination. He lives with spastic quadriparesis with involuntary movements; he cannot move independently or speak in the usual way. Yet he conducts interviews and has his own show. Using a computer controlled by head movements, he writes questions and then carries out his interviews.
Music is an important part of his life. He loves blues, jazz, and rock, and the music of Jethro Tull is especially close to his heart. That made the moment even more powerful when he could touch and “play” a guitar with such a story.
And how did this guitar find its way to him?
Its journey began in England. The director of the Centre of Social Services Tloskov, Matěj Lipský, used to spend a lot of time there. It was given to him by Tony Griffiths, a friend of his mother.
Tony once asked Matěj to play at a party he was hosting on his farm one Saturday evening. Matěj played many songs, and everyone had a great time.
The next day, Tony decided to give the guitar to Matěj as a “fee.” He casually mentioned that he had received it from his friend Ian, that he himself didn’t really play it, and that it would be better if it served a good purpose – for example, music therapy.
Only later did it become clear that this “friend Ian” was none other than Ian Anderson of Jethro Tull.
And this very guitar eventually made its way to David. Perhaps he didn’t play it in the way we’re used to. But in that moment, it wasn’t about technique. It was about touch, connection – with the music he loves, with the story of the instrument, and with the people around him.
Because sometimes it’s not about how we play.
But about the fact that we can touch the music. 🎶
🇨🇿 Když se sny dotknou strun – kytara Iana Andersona z Jethro Tull v Tloskově 🎙
Někdy stačí jeden okamžik, aby měl obrovský význam. Pro Davida to byl ten, kdy si mohl splnit svůj sen – zahrát si na kytaru, která kdysi patřila jeho oblíbenému zpěvákovi Ianu Andersonovi z kapely Jethro Tull.
David je moderátor Rádia Tloskov, který si svou cestu k lidem neprošlapal hlasem, ale obrovským odhodláním. Žije se spastickou kvadruparézou s mimovolnými pohyby, nemůže se samostatně hýbat ani mluvit běžným způsobem. Přesto vede rozhovory a má vlastní pořad. Pomocí počítače ovládaného pohybem hlavy píše otázky a pak realizuje rozhovory.
Hudba je pro něj důležitou součástí života. Má rád blues, jazz i rock a právě tvorba Jethro Tull je mu obzvlášť blízká. O to silnější byl moment, kdy se mohl dotknout a „zahrát“ na kytaru s příběhem.
A jak se k němu ta kytara vlastně dostala?
Její cesta začala v Anglii. Ředitel Centra sociálních služeb Tloskov, Matěj Lipský, tam dříve často pobýval. Daroval mu ji kamarád jeho mámy Tony Griffiths.
Tony tehdy poprosil Matěje, aby jeden sobotní večer hrál na párty, kterou pořádal na své farmě. Matěj hrál spoustu písniček a všichni se dobře bavili.
Druhý den se Tony rozhodl, že kytaru Matějovi daruje jako „honorář“. Ledabyle dodal, že ji má od svého kamaráda Iana, sám na ni nehraje a že by bylo lepší, kdyby sloužila dobré věci – třeba muzikoterapii.
Teprve později vyšlo najevo, že onen „kamarád Ian“ není nikdo jiný než Ian Anderson z Jethro Tull.
A právě tahle kytara se nakonec dostala až k Davidovi. Možná na ni nezahrál tak, jak jsme zvyklí. Ale v tu chvíli nešlo o techniku. Šlo o dotek, spojení – s hudbou, kterou miluje, s příběhem toho nástroje i s lidmi kolem něj.
Protože někdy nejde o to, jak hrajeme.
Ale o to, že se hudby můžeme dotknout. 🎶
