Do you have mood changes, sleep problems, skin flare ups or are other symptoms worse during full moon? The full moon is associated with higher parasite activity. This is because the body's circadian rhythm responds to the moon's cycle. Parasites (e.g. candida, or other microorganisms) are more active and reproductive coinciding with the circadian rhythm. It is no surprise then that the hospitals and emergency services are usually busier at this time.
During the full moon, we produce less melatonin (the sleep hormone) and more serotonin. Parasites (including candida) are more active, with higher production of serotonin and less melatonin. Like humans, parasites have receptors for serotonin, and parasites use serotonin to help them move. With access to more of your serotonin, they have more movement. The combination of less melatonin and more serotonin, gives parasites a heightened ability to move around and cause issues.
So in clinic, I would be muscle response testing for parasites and mineral imbalances, and addressing them potentially with supplements, emotional balancing and maybe herbal preparations if that was a priority. Muscle response testing tells me what the body needs first. Just getting rid of them isn’t always a priority, we need to understand why they are there to start with, and address the root cause first or alongside, otherwise they will just keep coming back.
We needs to make the terrain of the body inhospitable so that the parasites don't want to be there - see yesterday's post about the fish and the goldfish bowl. Rather than focussing on the sick fish, we need to be focussing on cleaning the bowl that is making the fish sick in the first place.
Apparently, those who have had traumas between the age of 4-6 can be more prone to parasites. Psychologically, and metaphysically, we would be considering whether a person allows other people to infest them with their thoughts and demands, and reinforcing to them that fact that nobody has the power to infest them unless we allow it to happen. To be liked, you have no need to be someone other than yourself, and just as we are particular about whom we let into our house, we need to be selective about the thoughts and believes that we let in.
I would also be checking hydration because the moon rules the tides, and also electrolyte mineral balance because because the moon has a strong influence on sodium which will imbalance other electrolytes. We should be avoiding anything that is emotionally or physically taxing to the body on a full moon. Waxing (closer to full size): easier for the cell to draw things into itself - a time to nurture. Waning: much easier for the cell to release - time to detoxify.
At the full moon there is a higher concentration of positive ions in the atmosphere. Most of us find concentrations of ions very uncomfortable. This is how we came to have the word “lunatic” because the high level of positive ions around the time of the full moon has long been known to have a negative effect, especially on people with mental illness. Such people invariably have a very weak cell membrane potential and therefore find it too much of a struggle at a cellular level to adjust to these changes in the moon’s charge.
