Posture correction during the first appointment of diastasis recti abdominis physiotherapy.
The first photo shows bad posture. Bulging non-functional abdomen with umbilical hernia, weakened interscapular muscles, neck muscle overload, tension in the lumbar spine and pectoral muscles, groin overload. This posture is caused by improper carrying of children after caesarean section. Due to non-functioning deep muscles, during normal daily activities, mainly superficial muscles are involved - superficial muscles of the abdomen and groin, which are overworked. The cause of diastasis here is mainly scoliosis and overloading of the superficial abdominal muscles, even before pregnancy the lady had a visible "baker bun" on her stomach
In the other photos, the posture correction that I performed and taught the client in a few minutes is obvious. In therapy, we also expect diaphragmatic breathing exercises, gradual strengthening of the deep abdominal muscles and deep pelvic floor muscles, relaxation of the superficial pelvic floor muscles, and solutions for scoliosis, transverse flat feet and inverted ankles. In this case, due to the previous overload of the abdomen, a very intensive release of stiff spots in the muscles in the abdomen and pelvis will be required. If the therapy is carried out gently, methodically and according to the current strength of the muscles, the client will return to her favorite sports training again 🙂
