Plum Village in the Czech Republic

Plum Village in the Czech Republic We are a community of practitioners here in the Czech Republic who follow Thich Nhat Hanh and the Ze Come and join us!

We are a Czech-English-Vietnamese speaking sangha (community) on the Path of Thich Nhat Hanh's meditation (ala Plum Village) which meets monthly for a Day of Mindfulness (normally Saturdays 9:30-4) at the Lotus Center in Prague 1. Jsme česko-anglicko-vietnamsky mluvící sangha (komunita) na meditaci Cesty Thicha Nhat Hanh (ala Plum Village), která se každoročně setkává na den snášenlivosti (obvykle

soboty 9: 30-4) v Lotus Centre v Praze 1 ...

We do sitting and walking meditation, listen to a Talk by Thich Nhat Hanh (Thay) or other monastics, have a mindful lunch and then walk outside, sing, do dharma sharing... Come join us! Věnujeme se meditaci vsedě, v chůzi, nasloucháme Thich Nhat Hanhově promluvě (či ostatního mnišstva), společně jíme s Plným vědomím, chodíme tiše i ven a sdílíme své dharmové zkušenosti.

"Suffering is not all bad. It can have a therapeutic power. It can help us open our eyes. Once we start facing the suffering within us we shall want to search for its cause, which means finding out what we have been feeding ourselves, what kinds of nutriments we are consuming that have brought about our suffering. We also want to find out the causes of the suffering in our society, but with this we need to be careful and exercise moderation. Being overwhelmed by too much suffering can destroy our capacity to love or to take appropriate action. We have to know our limits and find a healthy balance between being in touch with what is terrible in life and what is wonderful. We need to know how to water the good, positive seeds within us so we can bear the more distressing things."
-Thich Nhat Hanh, "Interbeing"

Od Tereza Sieglová "Take time to drink your tea" - a calligraphy by Thich Nhat Hanh

Please enjoy this extract from his book, "Answers From the Heart":

"Happiness is possible when you are capable of doing the things and being the things that you want to do and to be. When we walk for the sake of walking, when we sit for the sake of sitting, when we drink tea for the sake of drinking tea, we don’t do it for something or someone else. These things can be very enjoyable. That is the practice of aimlessness. While you do that, you heal yourself and you help heal the world. Awakening means to see that truth—that you want to know how to enjoy, how to live deeply, in a very simple way. You don’t want to waste your time anymore. Cherish the time that you are given."

Dharma stipendia

Support from our generous donors has made possible the Dharma Outreach Program, which offers small grants to projects around the world to help the Dharma grow and blossom.

Funding from this grant made possible a series of retreats and days of mindfulness in Indonesia among practitioners of several different faiths. Teachers, boarding school students, and other groups across Indonesia benefitted from mindfulness teachings and practices. "I realized the profound power of Thay’s teachings—the ability to dissolve barriers between religious traditions, allowing people of all backgrounds to directly experience their transformative depth," said Zaim, the retreat organizer.

The Thich Nhat Hanh Foundation accepts applications for the Dharma Outreach Program twice a year; the next application period will be August 2025. Visit https://tnhf.org/dharma-outreach-program for details

Ješte dnes v USA: We are following up about the Interfaith Action for Palestine (IAP) happening next week, Sunday June 29 - Tuesday, July 1, in Washington DC, with more details and ways for you and your Sanghas to become involved, both in person and online.

So many of us wish to bring our teacher Thaich Nhat Hanh´s courageous examples of compassionate engagement to this issue, but many are struggling with how to do so, without further watering seeds of suffering in others. As you may know, various humanitarian and news organizations are calling the situation in Palestine as the "largest orphan crisis in modern history." Oxfam reports that more women and children have been killed in Gaza over the last year than in any other conflict over the past two decades, and the US is the largest arms supplier in this conflict.

This Interfaith Action for Palestine is bringing together deeply compassionate teachers and leaders from various religious traditions (Christian, Jewish, Catholic, Mennonite, Buddhist, etc) to help end this horrific situation. Supporting this interfaith coalition and the Buddhist Peace Fellowship is a powerful way for us as OI members and Sanghas to become involved, and a more hopeful alternative than turning away in silence.

Here's how you can participate:
Online Participation
"Buddhists in Solidarity" Virtual Gathering: Join the Buddhist Peace Fellowship (BPF) for an online offering on Monday, June 30 at 12:30pm PT / 3:30pm ET. This virtual gathering will be led by BPF co-director Kate Johnson and Emiko Yoshikami, who will offer sacred chants and meditative prayers to awaken our spirits and radiate love to those in Gaza and beyond.

In-Person Participation (Washington, D.C.)
Throughout the three days of the IAP events, there will be a diversity of offerings, including:

Trainings, political education, affinity groups, and direct actions
Art workshops and choir singing sessions (co-led by Sophie Sarkar!)
An Interfaith Prayer and Rally on Capitol Hill: Join us on Tuesday, July 1, from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM. We are honored that Bikkhu Bodhi will be traveling from his monastery in New York to speak at this rally!
BPF Buddhist Affinity Circle: To join the Buddhist contingent, rooted in prayer, presence, and people power, please register with BPF directly. This will give you access to our Signal group for updates. The circle will meet on Monday, June 30 from 3:30 PM to 4:30 PM and Tuesday, July 1 from 3:00 PM to 4:30 PM.

Can't Show Up, but Want to Support? The IAP is also asking for financial support. Your generosity will help cover essential needs like lodging, food, childcare, and materials for those attending. If your heart is moved, please make a gift to support the IAP effort with a donation.
To participate in any way, including online, we encourage you to register at

Our Story Náš příběh

Jsme česko-anglicky mluvící sangha (společenství), která praktikuje 9. rokem v tradici mistra Thich Nhat Hanha. (www.plumvillage.org).
