Our collective efforts must focus on early identification and the development of strategies to prevent and mitigate long-term impact.

The 4th International Congress of Hypertension in Children Adolescents and Young Adults (ICHCA 2026), to be held in the historic city of Prague, Czech Republic, from 7–9 May 2026. As we prepare for this congress in one of world´s most beautiful cultural centers belonging to the UNESCO world heritage cities, we find ourselves at a critical point in our field. The increasing prevalence of hypertension in children and cardiovascular disease calls for a deeper understanding of its origins and progression—beginning as early as childhood, and in some cases, even prenatally. Arterial hypertension is the most significant potentially reversible risk factor for cardiovascular disease. With both primary and secondary forms often manifesting in young patients including children and adolescents, and involving a wide range of underlying causes, this condition crosses the boundaries of numerous medical specialties such as cardiology or nephrology. In recent decades, we have seen rapid advancements in both pharmacological and interventional treatments that have reshaped pediatric hypertension care.
