🫀 How do we teach cardiac surgery at the First Faculty of Medicine, Charles University?

💡 At our Faculty, a unique hands-on workshop on mitral valve reconstruction took place in collaboration with the company's Surgeon.

👉 Young cardiac surgeons practiced procedures on pig hearts and special models—techniques they normally wouldn’t encounter during standard training. This hands-on approach in postgraduate education helps doctors gain skills and, most importantly, confidence for future operations.

🤩 We’re proud to educate a new generation of top-level specialists and to push the boundaries of cardiac surgery care.

🦴 This week (from Wednesday to Friday), it is possible to prepare for the practical part of the anatomy exam directly at Anatomický ústav 1. LF UK - oficiální profil!

EDIT: Příští dva týdny bude možnost studia na praktickou část každý den po skončení zkoušení do 15 h.

For the next two weeks, it will be possible to study for the practical part every day after the exams until 3 p.m.

V příštím týdnu, od středy do pátku (27.–29. 8.), mezi 9. a 15. hodinou bude opět možná příprava na praktickou část zkoušky z anatomie. V dalších, již zkouškových týdnech, pak vždy po skončení zkoušek, a to opět do 15 hodin.

Next week, you’ll have the opportunity to prepare for the practical part of the anatomy exam – from Wednesday to Friday (August 27–29), always between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. In the following exam weeks, preparation time will be available after the exams finish, again until 3 p.m.

🌍 Doctors from around the world gathered for the second time at our Institute of Anatomy to take part in the prestigious Advanced Emergency Medicine Interventional Skills Course.

💉 During this hands-on program, led by top experts, participants trained life-saving techniques – from securing airways to urgent invasive procedures.

We are proud to provide the space for world-class education and to support the exchange of knowledge across continents.

👏 Our Faculty hosted the International Training School for Young Researchers – Infant Socio-Emotional Development, its Assessment and Underlying Biological Pathways.

ℹ️ 22 PhD students and early-career researchers from 10 countries participated in this intensive three-day programme, focused on infant socio-emotional development, its biological foundations, and assessment tools.
Workshops and lectures covered topics such as neurocognitive development, caregiver-infant interaction, temperament, and the effects of perinatal stress.

🧠The event was led by an international team of experts, including Dr. Lea Takács from our faculty, who also served as the local organizer.

💡 Funded by the European Union via the COST programme, this initiative underscores the value of international research collaboration and capacity building in the field of early neuropsychological development.
