ASHTANGA YOGA 3 DAYS WORKSHOP IN PRAGUE WITH SATHU JOIS, daughter of Manju Jois. ALL LEVELS OF PRACTICE ARE WELCOME!

YOGA ISN'T MEANT TO FIX YOU OR TO TURN YOU INTO SOMEONE ELSE. It's meant to remind you that you're enough exactly as you are.

Let’s go back to the second Sutra of Patanjali: “Yoga is the cessation of the fluctuations of the mind”. This is the main purpose of practicing Yoga (at least according to Patanjali’s Ashtanga Yoga): to make the mind still.

Being focused on the present moment, even for a little while, means freedom from overthinking the past and worrying about the future.

The difficulties we are facing on the mat are a preparation for the ones in real life. Truth is you must first learn the rules to break the rules. ‍

Most of the rules in Ashtanga Yoga can be adapted to the individual and the different phases of their life. The more we advance the less rigid the practice becomes, the more our own intuition and inner wisdom come into play and allow us to make the practice “ours”.

After many years of practice for example, things like the temperature of the room, where we place our mat, how flexible or strong we feel on any given day or how well we perform don’t matter so much anymore. We just show up and do our practice. Our mind fluctuates less and less.‍

We can love ourselves more than other people, but can also care more about their opinions than our own.

Nonjudgmental awareness feels like remembering your most horribly embarrassing moment and appreciating the pings of regret and shame—just finding some room to let yourself be human for a little and maybe just laugh.

The more we practice sitting with our whole selves nonjudgmentally (the good, bad, beautiful, and painful …), the better we get at opening ourselves up to every kind of moment with discernment and acceptance, rather than judgment, reactivity and remorse.

Seek the smallest things and create awareness…

Practice loving kindness to yourself - especially in the very small things - and that you can take conscious moments of joy in which you consciously enjoy this moment.

Practice who you want to be …

Do we always feel strong, have the confidence? No. Do we sometimes feel lazy or does our practice sometimes goes to basic? Yes. What is yoga? We carry the spirit of yoga (and all what we’ve learned) with us every day. Having an idea of who we want to be in this world we can show up and make it happen.

Life often doesn't guide us gently or offer shortcuts. Just keep practicing… and when the practice feels impossible - dont wait- sit down and breathe, in stillness there is still progress…

What we learn on our the yoga mat - then we can practice in the real life. Feel strong- be strong and don’t hesitate to ask for a helping hands… and always keep drishty… 🙏😘

As December's early darkness wraps around us like a heavy cloak, a hand reaching through the dark to say: yes, I know this too. In a world that demands perpetual spring, May dares to honor those seasons when our spirits draw inward, when our energy wanes, when we find ourselves temporarily frozen by life's inevitable winters - whether through grief, illness, burnout, or that peculiar sadness that sometimes settles over us without name or reason.

In the softness of early snow, May teaches us to read the language of our own winters. These fallow periods aren't failures of spirit but necessary retreats, as natural as the way trees draw their energy inward, as normal as the bear's slow slide into hibernation. Our resistance to these periods, she shows us, often causes more pain than the winter itself - like fighting against the tide instead of learning to float.

When the world grows too loud, too bright, too demanding, May offers us permission to draw the curtains close, to wrap ourselves in quiet, to honor our need for solitude. Like animals building their winter dens, this gathering inward isn't weakness but wisdom - a deep listening to what our souls need to survive and eventually thrive agains…

My deepest condolences to the Jois family 🙏 I am lost in words.

Sharath Jois died on Monday in Virginia. He was 53, he had died after suffering a heart attack on a hiking trail near the university’s campus in Charlottesville, where he was visiting.

Life Can change within blinks of eye 👁️… it teaches us to be thankful for a present moment with our dearest ones. Celebrate life. Nothing, even decades of yoga practice, can prepare us for this. We all feel terrible loss.

I am lightening candles for all I have lost in my life and giving my prayers.

Manuály na Jógovou Terapii jsou ještě teplé a mám z nich opravdu velkou radost. Tentokrat jsem pro vás sepsala poznámky pro Vás, benefity, klíčové věci, popis i fotky k adjustmentu, mantry, pranayamu, proč je Ashtanga terapeutická, jak praktikovat během menstruace, v těhotenství, v období zranění, návod k olejové lázni a mnoho jiného. 105 stran a místo na poznámky! 🙏 cítím velký vděk.
