Gesellschaft für Tropenpädiatrie und Internationale Kindergesundheit Förderung der Kindergesundheit weltweit. Die GTP engagiert sie sich sowohl durch wissenschaftliche als auch praktisch-klinische Aktivitäten.

Die Bezeichnung Tropenpädiatrie ist ein kurzer und damit stark vereinfachender Begriff, der die Umstände und Zusammenhänge der Kindergesundheit besonders in Ländern mit geringem und mittlerem Einkommen und erschwertem Zugang zu medizinischer Versorgung beschreiben soll. Sie strebt eine enge Zusammenarbeit mit nationalen und internationalen Gesellschaften (u.a. WHO) an, die sich mit tropenpädiatris

chen Problemen und internationaler Kindergesundheit befassen. Die Arbeitsgemeinschaft Tropenpädiatrie e.V. wurde 1983 als AG der Deutschen Gesellschaft für Kinder- und Jugendmedizin gegründet und ist seit 2003 ein eingetragener, gemeinnütziger Verein. Seit 2008 wurde der Verein in GTP (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Tropenpädiatrie und Internationale Kindergesundheit) umbenannt.
