News 📢: Frenova, Fresenius Medical Care’s third-party clinical research organization, has entered a collaboration with Nephronomnics, a renal precision medicine company, and GENEWIZ from Azenta Life Sciences, to provide genomic analysis for Frenova’s transformative My Reason® genomics research program.

Genomics-driven medicine, also known as personalized medicine or precision medicine, uses an individual's genetic information, specifically their genome, to guide medical decisions. This approach uses genomic analysis to understand a patient's unique biological makeup, enabling more targeted and effective treatments, diagnostics, and prevention.

My Reason® is a large kidney-focused data registry composed of genomic and clinical patient data designed to uncover insights into the genetic mechanisms underlying kidney disease. To date, more than 35,000 participants have been registered in the program and provided biospecimens, with a goal of reaching 50,000 participants over the next two years.

This collaboration will provide analysis of Frenova’s dataset and large-scale genomic data to better understand kidney, cardiovascular, and metabolic diseases while driving advancements in precision medicine for patients worldwide.

At today’s Capital Markets Day, our Global Chief Medical Officer, Frank Maddux MD, FACP, highlighted how medical leadership and innovation are central to our strategy, . Our company’s Global Medical Office helps bring that strategy to life by advancing how we understand, treat, and ultimately transform kidney care.

A key highlight of Dr. Maddux’ presentation is the impact the U.S. launch of high-volume hemodiafiltration kidney replacement therapy, and our hemodiafiltration-capable 5008X™ CAREsystem, can have for individuals living with kidney disease in the United States, such as reduced mortality and enhanced quality of life. He also explained the effects broader health trends such as aging, diabetes, obesity, high blood pressure, as well as limited public awareness and early detection of chronic kidney disease, will impact the growing need for kidney replacement therapies.

Improving care models, greater personalization of medicine and treatments, as well as continuing to expand access to diverse therapies, such as home dialysis, are crucial for the evolution of kidney disease care. Through leveraging the power of AI, Fresenius Medical Care is driving operational efficiencies, enhancing medical education and training, advancing medical and clinical innovation, as well as enhancing patient care and experience. From leveraging real-time data for timely interventions to investing further in The Renal Research Institute, we are turning data into action.

At today’s Capital Markets Day, our CFO, Martin Fischer, shared the strong track record on delivering against clear financial targets and the significant progress made over the last years. We raised our savings target twice, increasing it by 50% in total due to the great momentum that was created. Today’s event was a great chance for our CFO to reflect on what the company has delivered while executing the transformation and turnaround.

Looking forward, Martin shared our aspiration to reach industry-leading mid-teens operating income margins by 2030 with above market growth. These ambitions are grounded in strong fundamentals, funding accelerated business growth and innovation, maintaining an optimized capital structure, and further financial flexibility to return excess cash to shareholders.

We are also using the great momentum of our FME25 program by extending it until 2027, under the new name FME2025+. We are increasing the savings target by €300m to €1.05bn.

Martin also shared the new capital allocation framework that has been created in alignment with the strategy. The focus is to Reignite Value Creation:

• Strong cash generation: Through 2030, we expect to further increase our operating cash flow to at least €2.5bn, annually

• Investment in core business: Annual capex of €0.8 to €1.0bn for core business to drive profitable growth and to support innovation

• Optimization of capital structure: Refined our net financial leverage target ratio of 2.5 to 3.0x

• Return of excess cash to shareholders: stable and predictable dividend development with 30 to 40 percent dividend payout plus the opportunity for regular share buybacks. We will start in 2025 with an initial share buyback of EUR 1 billion within two years

Our new capital allocation framework proves our confidence in the future shareholder value creation of Fresenius Medical Care. It is proof of how Reigniting FME will pay off for investors.
