Der Kampf gegen ein Tabu in der Kinderchirurgie
Kolorektale Fehlbildungen sind viel häufiger, als man denkt – doch kaum jemand spricht darüber. Viele Eltern erfahren erst davon, wenn ihr Kind betroffen ist.

Als Chefarzt der Kinderchirurgie am Universitätsklinikum Brandenburg möchte ich dazu beitragen, diese Erkrankungen sichtbar zu machen, Tabus zu brechen und vor allem Kindern und Familien eine sichere Behandlung und Perspektive zu geben.

👉 Ziel ist es, ein Zentrum für Kinderkolorektalchirurgie aufzubauen, das modernste Verfahren mit langfristiger Begleitung verbindet.

In the middle of an 8-hour cloaca case, we had two power outages lasting several minutes each. Thanks to a cohesive and calm team, excellent anesthesia, and a battery-powered surgical lamp, we were able to continue safely and complete the operation without complications. A strong team and good preparation make all the difference when unexpected challenges arise. Grateful for everyone in the room that day. 💪🏼🩺

Erster Tag im Uniklinikum Brandenburg! Ich freue mich sehr auf die neue Stelle und darauf, in dieser schönen Gegend arbeiten zu dürfen. Die Kinderchirurgie ist hier im Wachstum – bald stelle ich euch das ganze Team vor. Jetzt heißt es erst mal: ankommen.

🌍✈️ March, what a month! ✨
From surgeries in 3 countries to switching careers + continents 🌏💼… Life’s been a whirlwind of chaos, courage, and countless lessons. But through it all, the brightest moments came from the people who showed up — friends who laughed with me, colleagues who supported me, and loved ones who reminded me what truly matters. ❤️

📖 So many stories to share (and a few scars to prove them 😉). Grateful for the madness, the growth, and the memories that’ll stick longer than any jet lag. Here’s to new chapters, stronger hearts, and never taking a single sunset (or sunrise coffee) for granted. ☕🌅

Grateful I look about 10 years younger in this version (can we make that permanent?)
And while the tools aren’t exactly labeled… let’s just say I especially appreciated the inclusion of the electrical stimulator we pediatric colorectal surgeons use—..well, if you know, you know. 🔌🍑
