Some years ago, today, Palenque, Chiapas.
Anjaneyasana.
Crescent Moon. 🌙
With feet like soil itself
the back leg reaching into the past and karma, personal effort and strength
the hips releasing the gap among the possibilities of our becoming
the front leg stepping into the future, dharma, service, and the beginning of a journey.
Preparing the next step - a jump - like Hanuman.
The Magical Monkey God, the poet, the herbalist, the musician, the magician that can immensely increase his size and gather unimaginable forces.
Student of the Sun, who learnt how to stretch from the eastern to the western horizon, with his legendary leap across the ocean to rescue Sita, the beloved wife of Lord Rama, as told in the Ramayana.
The arms are reaching toward the heavens
like
now is an inspired courage guiding our actions
now is our trust allowing transformation.
The chest is opening in prayer, entrusting the process, in devotion, open devotion, to the cycle of life.
The back arches like a crescent moon, drop by drop drinking the dense nectar of the untold story
that will be told
sip by sip, vertebra by vertebra, word by word.
Body body body
is never just the body
is the fleshy humus in which we plant seeds and intentions
it is our ancestors' blood running in our veins
is the orchestra of old wounds and eternal dreams composing the awakening.
This is a threshold, a gate, a hero's fate.
It is not just a big jump; this is the greatest leap ever taken, across an entire ocean, when all hope was nearly lost. 🔥
Hanuman is symbol of bravery, service, and expanded consciousness. It is the realization of one's inner, limitless potential in service of a higher purpose, it is building a bridge from ignorance to knowledge, from ego-driven effort to enlightened, compassionate and collective, transformative action.
It’s not just a jump — it's us taking the impossible act of courageous hope, learning to cross oceans in loving service to life.
And in the midst of all this, in one month is primavera.
